I was referred to Dr. Roath for a chronic intestinal issue that has been addressed by other doctors in the past, who have made no headway. Recently things have gotten worse, and after my current primary care doc had exhausted all the options, she made the referral to a specialist. When I saw Dr. Roath, I immediately received the impression that she had no interest in listening to me. She was extremely dismissive and did not seem to pay attention. I described the issue, gave a thorough history of the treatments and medications that have been tried. She ordered one test, and sent me away to wait. She did not do any sort of examination, did not discuss her impressions or potential treatment issues... just basically ordered a test and left. When the results came back, her nurse called, and gave some instructions for an OTC remedy. If the problem were that simple, I would not be sitting in a specialists office. That had already been tried multiple times with no results, and I told… her so. Then she stated wanted to give a prescription medication which has already been tried, again with no luck. When I told her that, she stated she needed to go back and consult Dr. Roath. It's clear that nobody read the patient notes sent by my PCM, and didn't listen to the medical/treatment history that I gave her during my visit. I am terribly disappointed, and frustrated that I've wasted so much time with an office that clearly doesn't care enough to even do the basics.

I saw Dr. Roath at Crestwood ER. She was fabulous!! I have never had pain like what I had this week in my life. I don’t remember much of my hospital stay but she recognized that my condition was out of Huntsville’s hands pretty quickly and worked extremely hard to get me referred to Vanderbilt so they could help me. She had great bedside manner and really cared about my pain and what was going on with me. I have memory of the last 3 days in the hospital (to make the pain tolerable they had to basically sedate me) and she checked on my referral and me at least 3 times a day!! Very knowledgeable and down to earth!! I owe her every penny she charges me because I am happily not in severe pain anymore because of her!!
