Michael Argenziano, MD, FACS, is Associate Chief of the Division of Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He also serves as the director of the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Arrhythmia programs, director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Laboratory and Clinical Research Program, and program director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency program. Dr. Argenziano received his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed his postgraduate training at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Argenziano is board certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. He is the immediate past president of the New York Society for Thoracic Surgery. He has authored more than 100 publications, presented at numerous scientific conferences, and received several grants and awards for his research. He has led two national trials of …robotic surgery, and his atrial fibrillation research has been supported by the TSFRE's Career Development Award. He currently serves as Columbia's principal investigator in the NIH/NHLBI Network for Cardiothoracic Surgical Investigations.

I rarely go near doctors, so when I heard I needed a valve repair I freaked out. Through a recommendation I made an appointment with Dr. Argenziano and I have never had a better experience with a doctor, especially considering that this one was going to open up my chest! I was just released from the hospital yesterday and I feel enormous gratitude towards this man. Throughout this ordeal he was totally responsive, communicative, available. He answered phone calls personally! And perhaps most importantly, for me, despite the seriousness of the situation, he always kept me laughing. (Of course he's a great surgeon as well)

I am 44 years old and have had multiple problems, some congenital and some due to ICD implantation beginning at age 29. I found Dr. Argenziano after surfing the NY Presbyterian website, and I consider myself lucky and grateful to have found him. Amazing communication, technical skills and great bedside manner...I felt immediately on our first meeting that he would take excellent care of me, and he sure did. I would refer him to anyone with valvular heart disease!

Excellent heart surgeon; saved my life and the lives of my two 88 year old relatives; replaced valves and performed multiple bypasses; everyone is still going strong, including me, who he operated on over 8 years ago!

Great Doctor. Not only does he have super technical skills but he is also a great communicator with his patients. After talking to him you know that you will be in good hands. He explains everything in plain English and does not talk down to you. He will spend as long as it takes to explain to you your problem and how he feels it should be treated. He is truly a caring person which is a rarity in his profession today. He performed triple by pass surgery on me over 5 years ago and was out in 4 days and played golf 6 weeks later and I have not had a problem since.

A family member was faced with possibly needing a replacement valve at quite a young age. Dr Argenziano repaired it using minimally invasive procedure and the patient was back on the job within a week. Dr Argenziano is a realistic, amazing person, not just a great physician. He CARES!!!!
