Dr. Michael Aron, MD

I saw Dr. Aron for shoulder pain. After some imaging the conclusion was that I had tendonitis and a suspect partially torn labrum from a previous baseball injury. Since I'm in my late 50's, Dr. Aron recommended a conservative treatment of a cortisone injection, NSAIDs, and rest for a period of time. He did not recommend surgery because the labrum wasn't bad enough and he said that if I was willing to modify my athletic activities, I could avoid surgery altogether and the shoulder will heal to a reasonable degree. I really didn't want surgery so I took his advice and took up new sports. My shoulder is now fine and I'm enjoying sports that don't impact my shoulder as much. I appreciate a doctor that takes a conservative and pragmatic approach to injuries, recovery times and probabilities, and my age.

Visited him at his Avon office today. He walked in with an impersonal greeting. I was there for a 2nd opinion on severe arthritis in my wrist and shoulder pain from an old injury. He did not ask probing questions, was aloof, and looked a bit unkept. He suggested a cortisone shot for my shoulder which he administered in my arm. Previously I had received one into the shoulder joint directly from above?!? He also administered the shot without putting gloves on. I am deeply disappointed I selected him for a second opinion.

Dr. Aron has taken care of BOTH my wrist fractures! 7 years ago I broke my left wrist. He had to operate and it turned out well. I did have to go to therapy but he was encouraging and sympathetic when I complained. He was very patient with me. So recently I broke the other wrist. This time all he had to do was cast it and it too turned out great. He took the time to listen to all my complaining. I recommend him highly!
