Dr. Michael David Banov, MD

I have attempted to get an appointment to see this doctor via a referral from my general practitioner to no avail. I have been unable to get an office representative on the phone and haven’t had my messages returned, they are already off to a bad start. After reading some of the patient reviews, with the majority of them being extremely negative, at this point I have decided not to even bother with this practice. As a person who has battled with depression and anxiety for most of my life I unfortunately have had a plethora of experience dealing with many psychiatrists as well as their office staffs. Let me just say that finding a solid doctor who values and earns your respect and confidence as well as runs a practice correctly in this field can be almost impossible. I have found that the vast majority of psychiatric specialists seem to desperately be in need of a mental evaluation themselves and this practitioner sounds no different. Arrogant, dismissive, rude, inattentive, incapable… of listening, extremely unorganized, consistently late for appointments, appointment time is rushed, you never feel heard, and it seems they just throw whatever medication the pharmaceutical companies are currently pushing , is not the most effective way to get help with an already deeply personal and delicate issue. I will never be bullied or treated like a number by a medical practice again. I’m looking elsewhere for sure.

Dr Banov will gaslight you into making you feel like it’s your fault some medications don’t work, that you’re the only one who has ever had side effects to medications, and treats people like guinea pigs to further his “research”. All while collecting tons of money from pharmaceutical companies.

Don't waste your time.

Dr Banov worked with me to find the right regime for me. He is polite and professional. He is caring and kind. I highly recommend him.

I have been struggling with a mental health issue for 32 years. It is taxing and exhausting to try to maintain a semi-normal life while experiencing the ups and downs that come with anxiety and depression. Dr. Michael Banov is patient and a great listener. He is knowledgeable with all types of psychotropic drugs and willing to try different medications to help his patients reach their full functioning potential. He has written a great book which is very informative for anyone suffering from mental illness and family members who need to understand the constant challenges a patient endures. He is also diligent at keeping up with new medications and treatments. I would highly recommend his help for any person suffering from a mental illness or neurological challenge.

Have seen Dr. Banov for 5 years. Was a period of time that office staff: follow up/ changes/ getting responses, changes in procedures was not great. Was corrected, Did take a while. Was frustrating , yet inquisitive reporting to a few staff helped. Having seen other psychiatrists over many years, it seems that psychiatric practices work w/ a psychologist or social worker very often. It was not that way in the past.

I have been seeing Banov for over 5 years. He actually listens to me and cares about my situation. He always tries to help me out with expensive medication and gives me samples whenever possible. With his help, we have found a set of medications that have totally change my life in every way. I've had unpleasant experiences before with other psychiatrists, 'here's your drugs now get out' kind of attitude. Fortunately, he is nothing like that. I don't mind paying out of pocket to see him, I wouldn't go to anyone else. I highly recommend!!
