One of the best surgeons I ever saw in my life, very knowledgeable and caring for the patients

Dr. Beneke was the surgeon who preformed my total thyroidectomy when I was diagnosed with stage two cancer. Initially, he completely blew me off. Stating he thought it was ridiculous, that I was being hormonal, that I didn't need surgery at all. Well, lo and behold, the surgery took more than twice as long as he had previously boasted (because he was oh so skilled) because not only was the cancer actually there, but it was spreading like mad all in and around the thyroid bed, infecting dozens of lymph nodes. 24 hours after my discharge from the hospital, I was back in the ER, almost going into cardiac arrest due to major hypocalcemia. Why? Because our master surgeon here botched my surgery and accidentally removed 3 of my 4 parathyroid glands, badly mangling the 4th. I was in the ICU for a week. Then, a week later, he told me on Christmas Eve that the radioactive iodine treatment I "definitely wouldn't need" was now necessary. Because my cancer was so bad. Never did he… apologize.

My grandpa had his Parathyroidectomy done here at the Sutter General Surgery Center last Friday and he really appreciates the service. Thank you, Dr. Michael Beneke, for performing this surgery for my grandpa. I must say that my family and I were very worried about his Parathyroidectomy because he is in his 70s, and the risk for him to have complications from anesthesia was much higher. However, he started feeling better right after the surgery and my family and I are very grateful to Dr. Beneke and his team for carefully performing this surgery with no complications. We will definitely recommend Dr. Beneke to all of our friends and family! I also appreciate the good service from the nurses who attended to my grandpa during his stay at the surgery center.

Bad surgical outcome. Chronic continuing in pain. Zero follow-up.

WOW~ that word sums up my experience. From the staff to the doctor I could not have been more impressed. Dr. Beneke REALLY cares about you as a person and as a patient. I know that my health care is in GREAT hands when I see him. I could not recommend him more. Please save yourself the grief and make Dr. Beneke your doctor if you are in need of his specialty
