Dr. Michael Eugene Blatner, MD

I had been a patient of Dr. Blatners for years, been seen almost weekly and a multitude of surgeries. His office staff is kind, the worst thing about this office is office manager who is not on sight. Dr. Blatner is a very caring, Catholic family man. I ran into difficulties a few years back and sadly had to file for bankruptcy. Last week I made an appointment to see him again as my original wound had opened up and has been open for a few weeks. The office manager, "Cindy" called me today to say I couldn't come in to see him even though I have new insurance. I do know that several people who were employed by Dr. Blatner left because of her. I wish Dr. Blatner the best and he is very caring of his patients and I will seek elsewhere for treatment. I guess she doesn't believe in second chances, and things happen to people that are out of there control.

The first call to Michael Blatner's office was very informative and helpful. After gathering the necessary information, I promptly requested and scheduled outpatient surgery for a cyst. The first visit, I was expecting to get checked out and have the procedure performed, like I have done for two other occurrences with other doctors with no issues. After waiting the typical 30 minutes to be seen, I was brought into a room where Dr Blatner examined the area to be operated on. After poking around for 10 minutes, I was told to reschedule to have the procedure done, and received a bill for $390 a couple weeks later. Frustrating. The second time I scheduled to come in and have the procedure done, I sat in a room, waited for 30 minutes, and signed a piece of paper to reschedule the procedure. Then received another bill two weeks later for $190. Ridiculous. Talk about a crook who doesn't care about his patient's concerns and time. Would not recommend to anyone looking for prompt service and… open communication.

I have had two occasions to visit Dr. Blatner. One was a sport-related in jury, and the other was work related (too much typing on a tight deadline with bad posture, etc.) Dr. Blatner sorted both issues out immediately. He was direct, answered all my questions clearly, and gave me the right treatment and instructions to heal. I couldn't ask for a better experience.

I had sought to have a breast reduction for many years. The first surgeon I met in 2008 was more concerned with my overall appearance and how the outcome would look, than my health. She was brash, abrasive, and ended up canceling the surgery after the snowstorm that year; I could have been rescheduled, but she chose to cancel it altogether until I lost a marked amount of weight, which was not required by insurance. That put a very bad taste in my mouth. I dawdled for 2 years, almost to the date, even though I had been given Dr. Blatner's card by my OBGYN's nurse; she had nothing but nice things to say, and yet I was hesitant. I waited a year before I finally called and made an appointment. I was extremely uncomfortable on the first visit, although Dr. Blatner was nothing but courteous, reassuring, kind, and straight forward. I left anxious, and not sure what to do based on my own fears, not his attitude. I returned, and we talked more, and he wrote the letter for insurance; I… was approved in two weeks. Due to fears surrounding the surgery itself, I put it off for a month. He was nothing but caring and concerned, reassuring me all would be well, and let me take my time. Every pre-op visit, he reassured me everything would be okay, and I'd make it through. I finally scheduled, and the day of the surgery, he went so far as to introduce me to the entire team working on me. He went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible, and as relaxed as possible. I've never, in all my experiences with doctors, had a doctor care so much about my well being, both emotionally and physically. It was a breath of fresh air, and surgery went smoothly; he removed over 15lbs of tissue, in a little over 6 hours. At his behest, I was to remain in the hospital for at least 2 days, 3 if need be. This I found to be out of the ordinary as compared to previous surgeons, but in a GOOD way; my other surgeon had said she'd send me home after I woke up and the anesthesia wore off. He also did not use drains, which I preferred. On the second day in the hospital, he took time out of his busy schedule to come down and check on me himself, versus getting nurse's notes. Because I had lost a bit of blood, and my pain was still unmanageable on painpills, he had me stay another night. His concern was always with how I was feeling, and what state I was in. On the 3rd day, he came to check and change the dressings, and gave us a run down on everything to do, as well as a prescription for painkillers that would last until my follow up a week later. I really have nothing bad to say about his work or his bedside manner; he cares, takes time to focus on you as an individual, and his work itself is amazing. I have gone from a 44M, to a 44DD. It's absolutely life changing, and I'm still in awe of the results almost every day. I'm extremely grateful for his caring attitude, and his focus and skills. I'd highly recommend him for breast reduction, especially if you're looking for someone who will treat you one on one, with care.

I found Dr. Blatner to be very knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and personable. He explained the diagnosis in detail, even drawing pictures and showing drawings from a book. He spent a considerable amount of time with me and I never felt rushed.

Be sure to ask if your insurance covers their Dr. in your network. I had a timeline evaluation w/ Dr. Blantner and he failed to meet that timeline. Four patients were scheduled the same time i was so if you have alot of time to waste, this is the Dr. to see. He wasted my time and for a 15 minute counsel he charged me anything he fits suitable which was $191.99, not covered by my insurance. The old nosey receptionist failed to tell me but according to the office manager in the Bellevue office they do not have to tell you if it is an out of network on your insurance. "It's the patient responsibility to ask rather than a courtesy from Dr. Blantner's receptionist to inform you of this. Please look at other physicians before you see this overcharged and not so great plastic surgeon. Thank goodness I did not have work done by this man. PATIENT BEWARE!!!!
