Dr. Michael Alan Boxer, MD

Dr. Boxer is the best doctor I have ever had. I met him when I was admitted into the emergency room for having a seizure. I have never had a seizure before and the ER doctors couldn't figure out what the cause was. They called Dr. Boxer to look over my charts and he diagnosed me with polycythemia. At the time there was no way to test for the disease here in the US so my lab had to be sent to Germany to be able to test for the particular type of blood cancer. It came back confirmed that Dr. Boxer had made a correct diagnosis. He has been my Dr for the past 4 years now. My health and blood work continue to improve with the help of Dr. Boxer. He has always been honest and straightforward when giving me his recommendations. He has always treated me with respect and has shown genuine care in my well-being. Dr. Michael Boxer is a caring, thorough, conscientious hematologist who has treated me for 10 yers. He is a superb diagnostician. I was bedeviled by chronic bronchitis and pneumonia for most of my adult life, but he was the first of many doctors whose help I sought to suggest my immune system be checked. When blood tests showed I was lacking enough immunity, he gave me infusions that allowed me to go months and finally years without serious problems. When routine tests showed I was chronically anemic he gave me iron infusions until I could find the source of the problem, which involved many tests and several doctors. Dr. Boxer urged me to keep going until the source of the blood loss was found, and surgery corrected the underlying problem. This doctor is a hero to me!

Eight years ago, Dr. Michael A. Boxer convinced surgeons that he could treat my CML with a pill form of chemo, on an outpatient basis, when bone marrow transplant was not a good option for my emergency condition. Last year, after a PCP told me that I would die in weeks from a second cancer, Dr. Boxer referred me to a surgeon who specializes in ovarian cancer. Today, that surgeon advised me that I am in remission for that second cancer. In addition to being a great oncologist, Dr. Boxer is a gifted person who found time to answer my questions, call me at home with test results, sooth me, and refer me to others when needed.

I have been seeing Dr. Michael Boxer for 3 1/2 years for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow that is universally fatal. He has kept me alive all this time with a series of oncology medications while blunting the side effects of these powerful medicines. His approach has always been science based and empathetic. He has always been easily available for questions and problems. He is continually positive and forward looking. I am confident that he will continue to keep me doing well for a goodly time in the future. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Michael.

Dr. Boxer literally saved my life from Hodgkin's lymphoma. He is warm, wise, and highly skilled. He is also the finest person that I've ever met.

This doctor is AMAZING - so kind and so knowledgeable. Great bedside manner. I first saw him in the hospital several years ago, and then again in the hospital last September - November. I have been going in for follow up visits and couldn't be more pleased. I VERY HIGHLY recommend him. You won't be disappointed. He's such a cute little guy - hope he sticks around for a long time!

Best Oncologist ever

Dr. Boxer treated my husband for over two years for a diminishing white and red blood cell count. He always said come back in 6 months, never suggesting there could be a threatening disease, sometimes referring the problem to age. Out of the blue my husband was hospitalized and diagnosed with acute leukemia and given a few months to live. This information was given to me over the phone when I was driving on I-10 on my way to the hospital. At that point, Dr. Boxer came to see my husband in the hospital (why I don't know) because his attitude and response was that nothing else could be done except treatment that could make my husband's life worse. I really believe if he had made an effort earlier in the visit to diagnosis my husband we might have had a chance for more time. I am very angry and disgusted with the treatment my husband received from Dr. Boxer.

Excellent oncologist/hematologist. Very caring & thorough. I highly recommend Dr. Boxer.
