Dr. Michael Don Canty, MD

Dr Canty is a great doctor. He was very thorough in trying to find a diagnosis for my symptoms. He takes time to explain things to you!

Be aware that this practice does not care about extremely long wait times, from two to four hours is the average. The office manager told me to pack a lunch because you're going to be waiting a long time just to see Dr. Canty. I was left in an exam room for over an hour because they forgot they put me into a room. They were not busy at the time. The provider and the other staff were too busy talking about the weather and about epidural steroid injections to remember that I was there. They are extremely unprofessional.

One of the best doctors I have ever been to. He is very caring and explains everything. He prayed for me. I wish he could be my primary doctor. He is awesome. His staff is also fabulous.....I loved all of them! I recommend him highly.

I have to say this Doctor truly cares about his patients. I have been going to him for over 10 years and he has always been more than willing to explain every procedure, every diagnosis, etc. I have great respect for the Man & his wisdom being in the practice for 37 years. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. His staff is wonderful as well. Thank You Dr. Canty for all Your hard work, dedication and time. My brother in law had issues where at another hospital, due to a heart attack, they were giving him high doses of lasix without any fluids period, so they dried his kidneys out and ended up sending him to KDMC to a neuphronologist,. They in turn did an aggressive dialysis to get his kidneys to functioning, it worked. When he was preparing to come home he started projectile vomiting blood, lost 2 liters before they could get him to icu, where the called Dr. Canty in and he did a long operation on him, he found a half a gallon of blood in one clot in his stomach and found that around the top of his stomach he had ulcers, many ulcers, with the aggressive dialysis, the ulcers all ruptured at once. He spent several hours repairing these lesions and due to his knowledge and God above we were able to have more time with my brother in law. Dr. Canty along with the other team members found that he had "blastoanemia" which is a very rare form of leukemia and helped us so much through this… difficult journey!! I would reccomend him highly to anyone!!!!~!

Since I've had colon cancer twice I have a colonoscopy every year. I started going to Dr. Canty around 1998 after my other doctor retired. Dr. Canty is very thorough. He discusses any symptoms or problems you are having. He always puts you to sleep during a colonoscopy. He prescribes a small bottle of Magnesium Citrate (laxative} and ducolax pills for the prep procedure not the gallon of stuff that most doctors have you drink. He shows you the pictures taken during the procedure and always discusses his findings and any concerns immediately.

Dr. Canty has been a great care provider for my mother. He is always kind and informative.

I found that Dr. Canty was very truthful with me and honest when I had a colonscope run in 2011, found cancer in my colon. This was on a Tuesday. He went right to the phone after he spoke to me and our daughter, came right back and told me he got me appointment with Dr Fresse on Thursday. Seen Dr. Freese on Thursday and had stage 2 colon cancer removed on the next Tueday. So with in a week from the time I knew I had colon cancer I had my surgery and came away with out having to have any chemo or radiation done. Have been clean since. I want to thank Dr Canty for taking the fast action he did. He has told me I have an angel on my shoulder. I believe that also and hope he has one on his shoulder when he does his work everyday.
