Dr Michael T. Christensen

Michael T. Christensen, M.D., M.B.A., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, practicing at the City of Hope Cancer Center Gilbert location. He collaborates closely with multidisciplinary cancer care teams to offer advanced radiation therapy options for a wide range of cancer types. Dr. Christensen also provides low-dose therapeutic radiation treatments for non-cancer conditions such as osteoarthritis, helping patients reduce pain and improve mobility.In his clinical practice, Dr. Christensen integrates his specialized training in innovative radiation techniques — including stereotactic radiation, intensity-modulated radiation therapy and brachytherapy — with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. His goal is to ensure that each patient feels supported and empowered to make informed treatment decisions.Dr. Christensen earned his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He completed an internship at …Riverside Community Hospital, affiliated with the University of California, Riverside, followed by radiation oncology residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. During his residency, he also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Dallas.Dr. Christensen has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from using stereotactic radiation therapy for kidney cancer to training physicians in effective communication strategies with seriously ill patients. He is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and has been recognized throughout his career for his academic achievements, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
