Dr. Cohan saved my life! After years of fighting a kidney disease which shockingly began in my mid 30’s, I went to doctor Cohan to get a 2nd opinion. He was incredibly kind, humble, knowledgeable, innovative, tenacious, attentive, readily available, and has ALWAYS treated me like family. I could tell that he truly cared about my health and wellness from the moment I met him. He spent over an hour with me during my first visit in order to answer all of my questions, calm my fears, and explain my disease in words and ways I could understand. He used visual aids, drew diagrams, and came up with a “plan of attack”. Since that time, I have felt cared for and like a priority to him. He asks about my family, my children, my job, and the other factors in my life that contribute to my overall health and wellness. He unequivocally treats the WHOLE patient, not just the kidneys. I give Dr. Cohan my highest recommendation to anyone searching for answers, effective treatment, and genuine care.

I first saw Dr. Cohan over 4 years ago now. Before that, I was a healthy 25 Y/O living a normal life when things took a turn for the worse. After seeing several doctors and a few abnormal blood/urine test results, I was referred to Dr. Cohan in Nephrology. There are great doctors in Nephrology at Elmhurst, but Dr. Cohan was the best fit for my personality and more. He is kind, caring, straightforward, and very down to earth. I was quickly diagnosed with stage 4 SLE that was attacking my kidneys combined with ANCA Vasculitis. He makes sure YOU understand what is going on and WHY he is doing what he is doing. I could've needed a transplant, dialysis, or worse. He prepared a treatment plan immediately and did extra research to ensure he was giving me the best treatment possible. After my treatment plan and some time; I got my life back. I now live symptom free and owe it all to Dr. Cohan. He may have saved my life or at the very least, life as I've always known it. Best doctor I know.

Dr Cohan has been my doctor for about 3 years. He's a very kind and patient. He takes his time to talk to you explaining your tests and Lab reports. I'm so glad I found him. He's The Best

i so enjoy seeing dr michael cohan.. He is always professional. warm and CARING he always asks about every family member of mine, even my ill aging parents, and my pets! He cares about every aspect of my health, i may wait a while to get an appointment, and may wait in the waiting room, however when i see him, i feel like I'm his only patient in his practice. he calls me personally (not his nurse), about all my test results. and is genuinely happy when my tests come out well. He composes very clear and thoughtful after visit summaries, so I have all my info at my fingertips.. Overall he is great, wish I could clone him to be like all my Elmhurst docs.....

Dr. Cohan is the most attentive and knowledgeable doctor I have had the pleasure to receive care from. Many doctors are wonderful professionals but few display the level of Dr. Cohan's empathy & genuine desire to care for you as an individual with needs vs. another patient. If you are looking for a nephrologist or internal medicine physician look no further. He is the BEST!

Smart, compassionate and funny, Dr. Michael Cohan gets to know his patients as people and not just a list of symptoms or charts. He puts extra hours in to make sure his patients feel heard in his efforts to make them feel better. He's on top of all the latest thinking, but still brings a warmth that many in the profession shed long ago. He has helped me through some small and some serious medical issues, and I know I am receiving the best care and best advice I've ever had.
