Dr. Michael Eric Cohen, MD

Very Thankful for the level of care Dr. Cohen has shown my son for the last 9 yrs. He was so helpful when my son was in the hospital and fights many behind the scenes battles with our insurance company quickly and efficiently. Dr. Cohen may have complaints about bedside manner but the most important thing to me is that he is a skilled physician and he truly cares about each of his patients. The staff is also kind and helpful. We needed paperwork yesterday and they acknowledged my request immediately and completed the paperwork within 24 hours of my request.

I’ve had neurological issues on and off for 5 years. Other neurologists have brushed me off because my issues would go away by the time I was able to get in to be seen (usually 2-3 months). Dr Cohen was the first neurologist in the area that didn’t have a 3-4 month wait for new patients, so that was a huge positive for me. The subsequent visits are only booked out in 2/3 weeks, also a great thing. During the appointment, Dr. Cohen took the time to listen to my complaints, do a thorough assessment, and ordered further imaging. When I came back to go over my results, he showed me my images and explained what was going on. He could have stopped there and diagnosed me with something, but he ordered even more testing so he could get the most accurate diagnosis. Not only has Dr. Cohen showed more dedication to finding the root cause of my issues than any other neurologist I’ve seen, he is very responsive. His medical assistant always returns my calls within the same day with answers.

Dr Cohen is rude and has a bad attitude, to include eye rolling and refusing to look at my MRI or my doctors test results. He said the MRI takes too long to load and the technician is never wrong and never make mistakes anyways. Within the first 5 minutes of talking to him for the first time, he insisted that i was mentally ill and nothing was wrong with me. I had just gotten released from a week in the hospital for multiple blood clots and was (and still am) suffering from severe nerve pain and a myriad of other symptoms. I told him that i am super laid back and mentally stable, as i work as a federal law enforcement officer and i wouldn't do what i do if i suffered the mental health issues that he insisted i had. I chalk it up to he is lazy, narcissistic and doesn't care about other humans at all. He doesn't want to help you get better, he wants to avoid putting the work in to help you. He is better suited to work in a cave or somewhere that he doesn't deal with people. I am baffled… that there are actually positive reviews on here.

I was referred to this doctor by my primary care doctor because his office is close to my home. The staff were nice people. Wait time was 30 minutes. When I finally met Dr. Cohen, he appeared uninterested and nonchalant. He did not want to look at my MRI scans, but I insisted. He was annoyed by the large amount of images in my MRI cd, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. After he reviewed them, he told me everything looks normal, and "it's one of those things." Implying that my migraine is a mystery and there's nothing he can do. In the end, he did not give me any advice or solutions, I had to ask him what my next steps are, and he said drink the prescription pills. I've been suffering from a relentless migraine headache for over a month now, including neck and shoulder aches. OTC medicines do not work. I came looking for help and this is what I get...no advice or solutions...this doctor left me feeling hopeless. He needs to work on his bedside manners.

I've been seeing Dr.Cohen for several years, after developing several neurological issues during a pregnancy. Sometimes you may have to wait ( AT EVERY DOCTORS OFFICE) but once he comes in to see you, he will be attentive and caring and not leave until either a resolution has been found or plan has been made...He has answered his phone many times at absurd hours when I experienced strange sensations and needed his medical advice regarding urgent care...never found a doctor who actually cares for his patients the way Dr.Cohen does. He has always been there for me in need and squeezed me in to busy schedules. No doctors experience will feel great ( BC YOU HAVE A PROBLEM) but having answers and treatment options definitely makes me leave happier than I was going in...

Copious note taker, but is cold mannered and dismissive of complaints and concerns. Didn't try very hard to find answers or solutions . Told me my falling from a height of 18 feet backwards would have certainly caused brain damage but it wasn't in his notes when it came time for discovery in my workers compensation suit and that led to me losing my case. The last time I saw him he simply said "maybe you're becoming demented" without any explanation. I won't ever go back there again.

While often gruff, Dr Cohen knows neurology inside and out.

Dr. Cohen was my neurologist for over 6 years. During this time, I experience lack of professionalism, no compassion, poor customer service with staff, demeaning comments, and overall frustration! Due to my severity of my illness, I was unable to change doctors and therefore had to endure Dr. Cohen for this long period of time. I DO NOT recommend anyone receiving care from this doctor!
