Dr. Michael Cross Connelly, MD

Terrible, terrible, terrible pain management doctor. With pain remaining after 3 lumbar spine surgeries leaving me with a fist size pocket of fluid in the surgery area - as shown on a MRI of my lower back, Dr -and I use the term very loosely - Connelly advised my wife and I said the pain was in my brain and was not “real pain.” Told me that I was addicted to opioids and that I needed to see a psychiatrist to get over my opioid dependency. Again, MRI disclosed a fist size pocket of fluid. Saw my neurosurgeon who referred me to qualified pain management doctor who immediately prescribed appropriate medications, including Vicodin which suppressed my pain until surgery drained the fluid pocket. I would not recommend having Dr Connelly treat anyone with chronic pain issues (medically documented pain issues) treat anyone. My neurosurgeon suggested I report him to the New Hampshire Medical Board but he is not worth waisting my time and money on. My sincerest recommendation is to find… another pain management doctor who listens to your issues, believes you and most importantly, can read a MRI which in my case, showed the cause of my pain. Terrible, terrible, terrible pain management doctor.

Started with Dr. Connelly in 2013 I went for a second opinion as the previous physician never diagnosed my problem he knew immediately upon examination at that time was my neck not low back since then he also has been treating my back as well. I highly recommend him and hope he stays around for a long time.

I feel that in all cases, his medical treatment of me has been great. In discussing my symptoms with him, however, has not always been great. (I) have the need to compare and contrast many of my symptoms. He does not allow for that discussion. I have been trained to look for and see the overall picture. If he would allow for that, then the total experience would be great.

Been going to Northeast in Salem for years...Dr Norton had treated me and have all high praises for Dr Norton...Everyone else at NRH also great receptionist's , nurse's , rehab worker's , everyone great people...all cared and would ask how you are and say hi...Now after lots of years get to see Dr Connelly , what a complete jerk...takes me off Pain Medicine at a rapid pace , which as anyone knows it's not a smart idea to stop abruptly...says to see Phycologist Moverman (saw him years before and he's another clown)...anyway Connelly prescribes anti depressents which most make myself sick , from nausea to shaking...didn't listen would just prescribe...Here's a thought look into Connellys anti depressents prescribing...would call and leave message with one of the nurses about how bad was feeling from anti depressents , Connelly would never call back or at the least have a nurse call back with some other recommendations , just did not care about his patients health...when prescribing the… rapid taper from oxycodone , said I was worried and Connellys reply was can get you Suboxone , said no thanks , makes you wonder how that works ? Hmm no pain medicine but here take Suboxone and anti depressents...All in All Dr Connelly is a terrible Dr & Person...Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Salem , NH , everyone was great , and seen lots of different people and programs there , such a shame a bad Dr can wreck a nice place to go for treatment.

He really know what he is doing I recommend him

Suffered for nearly a year with leg pain. Gave me two shots and then sent me to their psychologist (apparently this is his MO). Went to a different doctor who gave me a shot in a different location. I’m now pain free!

Dr. Connelly has treated me several times with injections only. Note that he is not a prescription pain meds doctor. The injections he has done in my back (for severe stenosis and degenerative discs) have not been successful. However, the most recent injection that he did into my cervical spine worked tremendously and relieved the awful pain and pins and needles feeling i had in my hand. The relief has lasted close to 2 years. Not big in the "warm and fuzzy" department but treatment worked for me!??

Wouldn't recommend this doc to anyone. I am in constant pain from severe degenerative discs. All he did was ordering more xrays then tell me I'm addicted to something. All I take is Tylenol. He didn't help at all and he'S RUDE AND UNCARING.

My PCP sent me to this MD. All most all of my visits were scheduled with the Physician Assistant even though I asked for him. Never really had a treatment plan or follow up from him. I was not improving so I left this MD/practice for these reasons.

Very courteous staff. As I was one of the many left to suffer and leave crying.It was the concern good staff of people who followed me to my car to help suggest a future plan and consolidated me as they know your pain don't just stop upon Doctor command. He will treat your pain the 1st few weeks and then drop you like on dime while behind your back ,sending your doctor a report that your not a good Candidate for pain control .Yes behind your back, the man who is suppose to be helping you.But yet 5 surgeons recommend pain control and wont operate due to dangers. So six compressed nerves 3 collapsed disk and bone spurs in the cervical spine and 2 compressed nerves and 2 collapsed disk in the lumber spine will just go away after 28 years. Also believe the comments you read about the rudeness ,disrespect, and non compassion. This comes on the 3 or more visit, like clock work.He's got 1 goal and that's to take away your pain meds. I m not the type of person to talk about anybody but, pain… is a serious issue and no one needs to feel like a criminal and helpless because they suffer daily in pain. Very surprised his license hasn't been pulled yet. This has been going on for Years.
