Would NOT recommend. .too many incompent staff members NOT to mention the incomptence and complete ignorance of the entire UTMB healthcare sytem in Galveston County. Thier nurses are rude, informations services pass you around and or direct you to the wrong individuals because they have no idea what they are doing.. lists are long and most patients who have had NO other choice or are patient's insurance have them as [unfortunately) healthcare providers who have no other alternatives, have gone to the University Texas Medical within Galveston County are disgusted with care from this particular institution NOT just with physcians but again WITH THE ENTIRE UNIVERSITY of TEXAS MEDICAL BRANCHES WITHIN GALVESTON COUNTY!!!

Don't complain the RUDE NURSES or the INCONSIDERATE STUDENTS because that will get you "FIRED or TERMINATED" as a patient. Just shut your mouth and don't say a thing and you will be the patient the staff prefers. Doctors are more worried about their Press Ganey Score from the patient and it determines the doctors raises and bonus's. If you lower their score then they "FIRE YOU". I was not treated well by the staff and I complained therefore I was "FIRED"! He likes his $200,000+ salary and won't let anyone jeopardize that. He is a state employee, so his salary is public information. My score not only reflects the doctor, but the staff I had to deal with as well.

Dr. Cook takes time with his patients with genuine care and compassion, meeting each patient's needs instead of just pumping out the most numbers each day - like too many surgeons in the Houston medical system. Cases they turn away because they are not common textbook quick-fixes are the exact cases and challenges Dr. Cook takes head on, determined to resolve and get one back on his/her feet - upright and pain-free. The only One Star rating is out of his control, and that is because of the typical teaching hospital policy known nationwide. Dr. Cook is by far a 5 out of 4 star rating. But once you are in the 'system', you are very well taken care of by the staff who is dedicated to patient well-being, first and foremost.
