Dr. Michael A Costello

I went in for a consultation about wisdom teeth extraction. I asked him questions such as If I leave the one horizontal tooth there will it move and push on to the tooth next to it. His answer was that every other patient asks the same questions and that he cannot predict the future. I mean excuse me for asking dumb questions as he made me feel. He then answer that I would have to keep watching that tooth because it can cause damage to the tooth next to it. So he answer my question after all of that. It made me refrain myself from asking further questions. It was a waste of time and money. I ended up scheduling the surgery with another doctor that welcome all of my questions and was able to put me at easy with all of the information that I receive which was not the case when I went to Dr. Costello in Franklin Lakes. He threats you like that and his prices are outrageous.

Dr . Costello is very professional - gently and helpful - everyone there is very kindly and friendly - highly recomanded

Having a discount plan that Dr. Costello accepts (25% discount from normal charge) I don't think $ 552.00 for a extraction of #14 tooth - w/top missing is a fair price.

I believe my wisdom tooth extraction was a difficult case, but the way Dr Costello spoke to me was very unprofessional. I recall waking up during surgery and hearing the cracking and feeling the pressure of the drill and heard him say "problem," which was not reassuring, then they quickly put me back out. Fine, they didn't give me enough anesthesia because they don't want to permanently put me to sleep, I get it. However, when I woke up from anesthesia I felt a sharp pain on one of the sides. I was crying, probably collectively from the anesthesia and the pain. Dr Costello proceeded to tell me "You are not in pain" (???) however, I felt fully coherent (not loopy) and was able to discern that I was in pain. I gestured to the assistant that the one side really hurt and Dr Costello looked at me and said "what's wrong? I'm a surgeon, not a psychologist" and walked out of the room. To me, this demonstrates a lack of bedside manner. Then he gave me a local anesthetic, the pain went away and… I stopped crying (surprise). I was very put off by the way he handled the situation. He lacked any compassion. I understand he is probably desensitized to the reactions of patients post operatively and it is fine if he thinks those things, but to say them to the patient is extremely unprofessional. I am just hoping that his technical skills are more superior than his lackluster bedside manner.

Dr. Costello is very highly skilled and very knowledgable in his field. Attentive and professional office staff.

Class Act and very knowledgeable. Presented several options and took the time to inform me fully of each of them, including having no treatment. He participates with my insurance which was such a bonus considering how lovely office and staff are!

This guy ruined my mouth with dental implants.

Dr. Costello is extremely knowledgeable, professional and caring. I went to him to have my wisdom teeth removed and was very nervous. Him and his staff eased my anxiety and I felt very comfortable with the entire experience. I had barely any pain after the procedure and all of the post-operative instructions were given very clearly and my questions answered promptly. I would definitely recommend Dr. Costello!

THIS DOCTOR SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICING! AND HAVE HIS LICENSE REMOVED! They barely gave me any information at all. He had no clue on how to read my Xrays ,I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. . I feel like my appointment was pointless and he is pointless, i do not know how he got a medical license. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. The office was easy enough to find. Micheal costello is an unprofessional, horrible doctor. He has no idea what he is doing and i feel bad for those who are his patents. I also fear for them. please think before going to have work done at this doctors office. he does not have a clue.
