Dr. Michael Jay Dans, MD

Overall a good experience, would recommend Dr Dans, he is very knowledgeable .

I'd had a problem with another dermatologist (Dr. Kathleen Welsh) that got busy and put me off on a nurse to do a medical procedure (not an elective procedure); and my then primary care Dr. referred me to Dr. Dans as my face had been burnt with a harsh laser. Note: my apt w/Dr. Welsh was to have 15 tiny bumps removed from a very small portion on my forehead and there was to be no laser used; only a passive light field, called "BluULight". I went to him swollen, purple, burnt and with the same problem I had been told by the previous dermatologist that needed to be treated not resolved. As well I had defensive burns on my wrists (from trying to keep the laser from my eyes etc. as I was screaming for this nurse to stop... she didn't (I was drugged heavily) thus the burns, etc.Dr. Dans' care, it now turns out, was an effort to hide the other doctor's mistake and not to take care of his patient. My face was so swollen/ burnt that I had to wait six months for him to retreat me for… the tiny bumps on my forehead; turned out -- and he even fessed up to it in a depo -- that at best "those bumps" are only at a 10% chance of becoming anything; but he didn't tell that until in his depo... and then he lied in the depo and to the medical board in an attempt to get the other doctor off of a malpractice rap.As it is, he also ignored burn marks on my face that are still open/have never healed and also one on my wrist (from the laser burn -- you can see the burn marks though I'm fair skin -- they never went away) and throughout our appointments until he retreated me for the bumps he would inform me in person of what she did; i.e. - he sounded concerned and I thought he was giving me proper care; instead he was at best pacifying me while he never intended to be a good doctor. Besides other medical attention I still need I now need to get that burn mark cut from my skin and have stitches to re-close -- another scar. But in the depo -- he lied about all of this: luckily I have both the phony depo transcript that he and/or just the two attorneys: my own and the defense counsel conspired to use to present the court with what is called a Summary Judgment -- they used Dr. Dans testimony to try to pretend I was making everything up. His testimony didn't change in the unaltered testimony, but my records were removed from the original transcript (the ones from his office in his handwriting) and I was able to retrieve those finally.The other dermatologist even got off of the med board investigation due to Dr. Dans writing a letter to them, explaining "all the damage done to my face was age related." That isn't so: and he saw pictures of me six weeks prior to the other dermatologist's botch-job; I had perfect non-flawed skin with no problem and I have pictures taken throughout the time he was supposedly treating me; checking on the burns and other injuries... I looked horrible for over six months and I won't go into this matter further.Anyway, the medical board left the other dermatologist's file open for me to present new evidence. I have it now. Dr. Dans is getting a complaint to them for his lack of care of my injuries as well as lying to protect the other doctor, not his patient. If you do go to him, take a tape recorder or bring a friend... the only other possible explanation for his actions is he has Alzheimer's -- and he really looks too young for that. My contact with him is that he is very dishonest and won't stand up and tell the truth. and in my incident, actually did further harm physically as well as the legal obstruction.

Dr. Dans seemed knowledgable in his field and interested on why I came to see him, not just in treating me and sending me on my way. He gave me good advice and I would see him again when needed and recommend him to others.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dans for several years and have always felt in excellent hands. He is patient and listens to your concerns, and comes up with a treatment plan that works. I have referred friends and family to see him and they are always glad they did.

I was the first person in after the lunch hour and yet it still took an hour before I saw the doctor. The delay was aggravated by the fact that the staff let someone else go first who had a later appointment but who was complaining. Dr. Dans was professional and efficient, but the 5 minute visit was not worth the wait. I will be finding another dermatologist.
