Dr. Michael Joseph Defeo

He is a caring, genuine one of a kind pediatrician. My kids are lucky.

I like this dr but all of his office staff calls you "mom." This is constant and I find it really disrespectful. Have the decency to look at the chart and ask me what I want to be called. I am not your mom.

He is my baby doctor from day one. My baby was delivered in new York down towan hospital and Dr Defeo was the one who took my soon to Intensive Care Unit. I have to say is is the best because he takes time to explain what is going on. My son was in Intensive care fro two weeks. We really wanted to take him home but doctor Defeo wanted to make sure that my son is ok. After that we decite that we want Dr Defeo to become my sont PD. My son have bid head but Dr Defeo keep saying I have a feeling that there is something ubnornal, but I kept telling him look at my husband head, big as well. Dr. Defeo send as to neurologist, after CT and full skeletal Xray my son was deagosed with Achondroplasia "dworfism". NOw we have to go to fiferent doctors. Dr. Defeo did everything that possible to help us to get to doctors ASAP. He was sitting with us and calling other doctors and they were saying that they booked for 6 month to a year, can you beleave it... wait for a doctor for 1 year. Dr Defeo was… very great to explain that his patient can't wait that long and we were able to get to other doctors in a month. Allthought, Dr. Defeo is not familiar with Achondroplasia he is willing to do everything to help his little patient. Plus, is you need to talk to him, easy to call to his office and he will call you back shortly. This is all in addition that he is head of Neonatal department. When my son was in Intesive Care I felt that Dr. Defeo was there all the time with alll those babies, but now I realized that he also running great Pediatric Practice. Also, it is not that difficult to get an appoitnment with his. Also staff in his office are greate, espesially his name Meay ( not sure how to spell her name). You will not be dissapointed if you bring you baby there.

dr. defeo answers all of our calls within minutes and gives us clear and calm advice. we have needed his help when we were out of town on more than one occasion and his speedy response got us the medicine/treatment we needed right away. Our kids love him.

This is one doctor who gives his mobile number to you and you can call him ANYTIME. If it goes to a voice message, you are least assured that he will return your call in less than 15 minutes. My daughter had some health issues when she was born. Dr. Defeo was the only doctor in the neonatal ward who spoke confidently and positively. Subsequent visits to this doctor were awesome. He is very patient and attends to you well. Once my daughter had a terrible fever and we called the doctor. He asked us to go to emergency and know what !!! There was the ER pediatrician waiting to receive us and attend to us immediately. Dr. Defeo called this ER duty doctor and explained my daughters case history and we were out of the hospital in 2 hours. Very rare to find a doctor who is very accessible.
