Dr. Michael Gerard Delissio, MD

I saw Dr. D. for years until moving to Charlotte in 2000. He was the best - would recommend him to anyone, in fact I'm doing so for my son in Raleigh - that should say something. I had open heart surgery in 2000 and he was one of the first to visit me even though that was not his job, but he saw my name on the list at Rex Hosp. and came to check on me.

I have always been happy with Dr's D and the people at his office

My husband died under Dr. De Lissio's "care". He went in on a Friday afternoon to Western Wake with abdominal pain. Those first critical hours were spent ruling out his heart, and he didn't see a dr. until the next day- a heart dr.!! hello- it's abdomen pain, at a level of 8!! Delissio didn't see him until sunday morning, but performed an endoscopy noting that my father had an obstruction to the deudodenum. Knowing there was some kind of an obstruction, he wanted to wait until Monday morning to do an upper GI. Uh, hello! An 82-yr old man in "serious" condition with an obstuction to the entrance of the small intestine, and you want to wait another 24 hours? My husband never got that test. His small intestine was dead the next morning. So, no, i don't think very highly of this dr.

The doctor admitted that he didn't have expertise for my situation but failed to refer me anywhere. Just wanted to do standard tests when I needed more than that.

I've been a long time patient and there is a reason for that. I trust him. Dr. Delissio has always taken the time needed to hear what I have to say and seems to pick up on the little things that make a difference. His personal touch goes a long way in making uncomfortable situations more bearable.
