Dr. Michael Wade Dobson, DO

Dr. Dobson is a great surgeon with a terrific bedside manner! He’s very understanding and listens to your concerns. My 86-year-old mother-in-law was incapacitated for the last 2 months with a rectal prolapse that was "out" almost 24 hours a day leaving her debilitated, in pain, and unable to complete self-care. We originally saw a surgeon at one of Novant's competitors, and that particular surgeon refused to repair the rectal prolapse with anything other than a colostomy. My mother-in-law also suffers from arthritis in her hands and is now unable to live alone. She was very upset about the idea of having to maintain a colostomy and we were running into issues finding an assisted living facility that would accept her with a new colostomy. The prior surgeon still refused to do any other repair except the colostomy. I sought out Dr. Dobson for a second opinion. He listened to our entire situation and our concerns regarding the colostomy and finding a placement for my mother-in-law. He… took the time to explain the 3 ways to repair the prolapse and the pros and cons of each. He agreed to do the surgery repair rectally and he scheduled it within 2 weeks. He is always responsive anytime we had questions before surgery and remains responsive after surgery. I am happy to report the surgery is complete and my mother-in-law is doing so much better and there have been zero issues. I am a Nurse practitioner and work in healthcare daily and know how rare it is to have a surgeon who communicates directly with family and truly listens and adjusts the plan of care in the best interest of the patient. My mother-in-law was suffering for 2 months because the first surgeon could not get her scheduled for surgery sooner and she had to stay at a skilled nursing facility in order for nurses to reduce the prolapse several times a day. My only regret is that we didn't contact Dr. Dobson sooner. He has been wonderful and a blessing to all of us. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was a God-sent. Dr. Dobson patiently listens to the patients to help them with their health issues! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a specialist. I am so happy that we met him and consider him a blessing.

Dr Dobson did my surgery, and I couldn't ask for a better surgeon. He truly is the best of the best, and I highly recommend him! I feel so much better and wish I had this surgery a long time ago! :)

I have been struggling for years with my health. I was told for a number of years I couldn't couldn't have surgery. Dr. Dobson was dumbfounded amd said I'll take care of you. Little did I know how serious he was! I'm a week out from surgery and I have a real chance at living a normal life. THANK YOU DR. DOBSON!!!

Dr Dobson was very nice and very informative . He did a great job removing my colon and my takedown surgery 8 weeks later. The ladies at the front desk and the nurse were very kind to me and my family.
