The doctor rushed through my appointment and was dismissive about my condition. He wants to start treatment with medication and assures he would obtain the prior authorization. After 10 days without contact, I call the office to confirm prescription pickup. They give the green light, but upon pickup, the pharmacy indicates that the prior authorization was never submitted. I contact the office, which starts to become a trend, and they advise me that I need to let the insurance or pharmacy know to send the dr. the prior authorization form. I am in disbelief that they would be so negligent to expect me to do their job, but I do it so I can start treatment. After some confusion and calls back and forth between office, pharmacy and insurance, I figure out what to do and obtain the information. 30 days after my initial appointment, and after constant followup on my end, I find out that it was denied. I ask if something else can be prescribed or a different treatment planned, and the office… responds I quote, "The doctor does not plan to do anything more." This indifference reaffirms the moral bankruptcy of this Dr. when a patient is not profitable.
