Dr. Michael John Doherty, DDS

I have nothing to say but raves about, Dr Michael Doherty. I went to him by referral from my general dentist in the hopes of completing implant work started by another implant dentist. Dr Doherty took one look at my radiographs and my mouth. And said "who did this to you?" he was honest enough to let me know he "wouldnt want to touch your case". Despite my horror, he went way above and beyond the call of duty and bent over backwards to show my case to aprox 10 other dental specialists along with writing a letter to the Oregon Board of Dentistry for me explaining my plight as a result of this poor treatment from the other "Implant Specialist". Although this other Dentist has many other unhappy clients and has since moved out of state, I will forever be grateful for Mr Doherty's selfless service.

Why does someone write the same review 4 times? Just to be obnoxious? If thats your goal you succeeded. I came in for a delayed extraction and implant ( my delay/ procrastination) on July 18 went by the office as a new patient. They got me a consultation appointment for July 25. During that appt. Met with dr. Doherty, and he was realistic, kind, not alarmist, and honest for what i could expect. I was scheduled for surgery on July 31. Everything went well and before I realized it, my IV sedation bone graft and implant surgery was done. My only regret is waiting so long once I knew i had a tooth that need to come out. I let it crumble away- just do to my anxiety. Highly recommend his as a surgeon and a caring one that called same evening as surgery to make sure i was doing well. All of his staff and surgical assistance were just as kind and competent.

Dr. Dougherty pulled my front tooth, installed implant with bone transplant today. No pain, no bleeding, perfect job! His office and staff were great. Best experience I have had with dental work and I have had a lot of work done by many people over the years.

I have had 3 implants done by Dr. Doherty. They were all seamless without pain or discomfort. As an "old lady" must say I enjoyed him.

I have insurance and they charged me a phenomenal amount above and beyond what the consultation quoted me AFTER the work was done threatening collections. unethical and unreasonable billing practices and then they blamed ME because I didn’t know they were not in my preferred provider insurance listing, when they were the ones that obtained the copay information.

After reading the reviews of others I decided to submit my own. To begin, I’ve had several experiences involving 5-6 oral surgeons in southern oregon over a period of 40 years. Some of them are now retired. In my opinion Dr Doherty and his team are tops. I was simply floored reading some of the negative comments concerning the support staff and office. I’ve had the opposite experience to what they’ve described. In my experience and to a person, the medical and office staff were top notch — friendly, polite, professional, intelligent, neatly groomed, recognizing and greeting me by name. This is a very well run office. As to the 25 minute prescription delay, yours seems a bit of an overreaction as does the comment regarding medicinal odors. It is, after all, a medical office.

Dr. Doherty seemed very knowledgeable and competent -- the only quibble I had with his care is that he persisted in speaking to my sharp, intelligent mother like she was a slightly stupid five-year-old, and greeted her, "Hello, young lady." You know the type? His office staff, on the other hand, acted incompetently and caused my 90-year-old mother unnecessary distress in the handling of her prescription. She was left sitting in the car outside a pharmacy for nearly an hour because the receptionist could not be bothered to call over her prescription for 25 minutes even though staff were told the call and need were urgent. Rather than apologize for this unkindness, thoughtlessness and lack of care, the office manager tried to shift blame, telling me I should have made arrangements to have a prescription I wasn't even aware of sent to the pharmacy in advance. I did not appreciate it. Be professional. Own your junk and admit your mistakes.
