Dr. Michael Robert Dorwart, MD

Didn’t respond to email questions submitted on my behalf by his staff. Always in a big hurry. Doesn’t give meds to give comfort during painful procedures while the other physicians in the practice do. He’s all about himself and could care less about the patient’s comfort. I wouldn’t let him treat my dog.

Did not read records made me wait 1,1/2 hours in waiting room treated me like i did not know anything and i was taking too much fir pain and i was hyper sensitive to the pain because of what i was taking and i needed a pump and a nerve stimulator am 65 years old to late for experimenting on me he just dont trust his patients with pain pills told me he didnt know what i was doing with mine he should not be in pain management. Turned me down as s patient thrn charged me $1500 for i drug screen that was wrong

My oncologist sent me to him for metastatic cancer to bone. First appointment he knew my problems gave me a list of ways he could help. Went through all the options he answered all my questions. I told him how I wanted proceed within a month we were on our way of getting rid of my pain.

When Dr. Dorwart came into the exam room it was obvious that he reviewed my radiology reports and my medical records. He was well prepared to discuss my pain issues and how he thought he could help. I felt comfortable with his professionalism.

Where to begin? Despite years of documented compliance with previous PM doctors & a solid diagnosis (from multiple previous doctors) of incurable pain (no surgery fix for me), I was treated like drug seeker. I liked him well enough on my first visit despite getting a bad vibe from his office staff. Just thought, "hey, maybe everyone is having an off day". I should have trusted my gut but pain patients these days don't have the luxury to find a good working relationship with a PM doctor. It can take months of suffering before you get an appointment and seeking out other doctors in the meantime flags you as a "doctor shopper". So you suffer while you wait for you appointment and you hope that all goes well when you meet the doctor. Based on past experience in this age of anti-opioid hysteria most of us are aware of how important our first interaction with a new doctor is. At out first meeting he rattled off his spiel about how he doesn't prescribe opioids. Ok? So what am I… doing here? Well, I soon found out. I did get a prescription for pain meds but in subsequent visits I was told that I needed to get an intrathecal pain pump asap and if I didn't, he wouldn't continue to treat me. Ok. I then made the major mistake of asking questions. I quickly learned that you do NOT ask this man questions. There is no healthy back and forth between patient and doctor that is possible with this person. After a few more distressing (trust me on this) episodes I stopped seeing him. Someone should investigate his relationship with medical device companies such as Medtronic. I bet that would be illuminating.

I wouldn't trust this doctor to change a band aid. Their office has the highest staff turnover I have ever seen and he's as sympathetic as a slaughterhouse. He doesn't listen to anything you might have to say and responds with, "I only do spines"; even though he's a chronic pain specialist. That's AFTER he's done his dog and pony show for the pain pump. He won't even look at you after he's sold you on his pain pump surgery. With his dismissive attitude, I'm not sure why he even became a doctor!

He isnt going to just hand you drugs he will check and make sure whats going on with you..i really like him .he did say if we xan get pain under control we could go to pain pump

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Difficult to communicate with, he set off a chain of events for me that are devastating by not using guided imagery (X-ray) while pushing a needle into my spine. Do not recommend.

Great doctor! The only one that has really helped my excruciating pain. Highly recommend.
