Dr. Dr. Michael W Downey, DPM

Waited over an hour to be called back from the stale urine smelling waiting room. Dr. Downey was uninterested and only gave surgery options. The prescription that was going to be delivered was never delivered and my voicemails are never returned..nor does anyone ever answer the phone. I would not recommend at all.

My husband and I have been long-term patients of Dr. Downey, he’s talented and professional. We needed his services, I called the main number explained my situation to the staff member taking appointments. She started out with a flat, unwelcoming demeanor which only worsened as the conversation continued. However, Dr. Downey is worth pushing past rude behavior…I thought. Right after appointment was confirmed and I thought we had disconnected..I said to my husband who had been listening that “apparently she was having a bad day” my husband responded no she was plain rude…the staff member chimed in that she was still on the line and she wasn’t having a bad day and hung up on me. First, I want to say I apologize for my remark but she wasn’t the most welcoming individual and the whole situation could have been handled better for both parties. My biggest concern is DD and that his staff member will reflect to other interested parties negatively. Cynthia Kinser ( hope you see this Doctor)

I got referred to Dr Downey by a friend I had surgery on my right ankle and it kept getting infected over and over that doctor told me that he's going to put a cast on it next time and maybe it'll get cut off so I was like I'm going to look for a second opinion I found Dr Downey he wanted me to get an MRI done which my other doctor never did or never had me do which basically showed him what's wrong with it all the infection in my bones and what I needed to do to get better Dr. Downey goes above and beyond very personable when you meet him and you can tell that he truly cares I would recommend him to anyone

I was sent to Dr Downey for a second opinion. The first doctor I saw basically told me to do some therapy and it would be ok. I knew there was more to my ankle injury then that I heard a loud pop when my ankle turned and I fall to the ground. Dr Downey with in minutes after seeing my MRI saw the damage from my injury and had a plan of action to fix it. He was very detailed and professional. He explained everything so we could understand what all he needed to do. Thank God for that second opinion because I'm all healed and back to living my life again. I have recommended Dr Downey to all my friends and family. Dr Downey is worth more then a million stars!!?????????????

Dr. Downey is a very caring and compassionate Dr. He truly takes the time to know his patients and desires to help them in any way he can. I had a lot going on with my ankle and Dr. Downey took the time to explain every single thing and answered every question I had. He showed me my images and explained the process on what needed to be fixed in detail. In Pre-op he went over everything again with me and made me feel comfortable and not nervous. In fact Dr Downey personally called me days after my surgery to see how I was doing. Dr Downey is the best out there and I highly recommend him to anyone for your foot and ankle. Every time I am in his office I am never rushed or feel that he is in a hurry. I will continue to use him for all my foot and ankle needs! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Downey and I will refer all my friends and family to him for any ankle or feet injuries!

My wife and I have both used Dr Downey for various surgeries and concerns. I can say without a doubt that he has been the best Doctor I have ever used. He is caring, explains things very well, and takes time. His skills as a surgeon are also second to none as well, We have both had amazing results. Would recommend him to anyone needing help in this area.

I was so excited to find a physician with all these great reviews. My first visit was $380 out of pocket, which was kinda steep but I hadn't met my deductible for the year, so I understood. That is until I went home and googled the EXACT SAME night splint on Amazon for $23. I have a follow-up appointment in a couple of days, but I'm not sure I can trust the recommended therapy if Dr. Downey and his office are so comfortable with overcharging and ripping patients off.

My understanding is that Dr Downey is generally a proficient doctor. After my foot surgery, I did everything I was told to do by Dr Downey, to the letter! However, later in the visits Dr Downey became less interested in my foot problems that included more swelling and pain. When I tried to ask questions, he seemed uninterested and I felt I could not question my recovery or issues I had. My knee also became damaged from staying on a knee walker for 3 and a half months. Now my left foot looks and feels worse than it did before I visited Trinity Foot & Ankle with swelling and pain. The exception is my big toe. My big toe is painful and has very little motion. My foot problems have only been made worse after 1 year. Swelling and pain. Also, there is a possibility that I may have been treated differently than others. My out of pocket expenses for visiting Trinity Foot & Ankle came to $1164.03 which included a $328 unexpected lab bill.

Dr. Downey is always professional and courteous. He explains everything in a way that you can understand.and provides excellent instructions,via verbal and written, to help you have a good understanding of what is expected before, during and after surgery. Some of the information provided included infection prevention & control, supplies, medications, and risks. I never felt as if I was having a surgery that was not warranted, but at the same time, I was definitely a part of the healthcare team.
