Dr. Michael M Drelles, DO

Michael Drelles, DO is a double board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Specialist who has over a decade of experience treating chronic pain stemming from a wide range of conditions. He was born and raised in southeast Michigan and attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following completion of medical school, He then went on to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he completed a three-year residency in Anesthesiology. After graduating from residency, He decided to follow his passion and continue his training in the treatment of chronic pain at the world-renowned and ACGME accredited University of California Davis Pain Management Center. As a Pain Medicine Fellow, Dr. Drelles completed an additional year of training to focus and sharpen the skills needed to successfully diagnose and treat a wide variety of chronic painful conditions. In addition to the longstanding fundamental interventional techniques used in pain medicine, such as …epidural steroid injections and radiofrequency ablation, Dr. Drelles has added cutting edge and minimally invasive procedures, such as Vertiflex, Sprint PNS, and Kyphoplasty, to further broaden the available techniques to treat chronic pain. Currently, He is one of only 22 doctors certified in the entire state of Michigan to implant Vertiflex for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. Dr. Drelles believes strongly in a patient-centered, holistic approach to patient care that focuses on compassion and caring to treat his patients. He frequently incorporates physical therapy, medications, psychological intervention, and surgical referrals when he believes it is needed to enhance the patient’s treatment plan.
