Dr. Michael Firstenberg

My story is quit long. But I will try to sum it up quickly. I have known about my Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm for at least five years before my GP told me I need to think about getting it fixed. I was ready to face the music. But I got uterine cancer. I had to deal with that first. Dr Firstenberg called me shortly after that surgery for the uterine cancer just to check on how I was doing. After healing from the surgery and cancer free. I was ready to do the Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm surgery. But my body threw in another monkey wrench. I got an infection in my blood which I was hospitalized for five days and put on hefty IV antibiotics for six weeks. Finally after all of this and nine months later I was ready. The surgery went great!! I was out of the hospital in four days. The day I was released Dr. Firstenberg had the day off but he came to the hospital to check in on me !! Really great I think. He has great bedside manner and a lot of knowledge. My scar looks great. I am a forty… five year old woman and a little worried about how this scar would look. After about seven weeks it looks great! Now I can live a long life not worrying if my Aneurysm is going to burst. Thank you Dr. Firstenberg and his great staff!!

He was very caring did a triple by pass surgery on me over a year ago, between him and Dr William Bauman I am here today and doing very well. He and his staff gave me excellent care before during and after my cardiac event.

At 53 years old, had a bad EKG, needed bypass surgery. I started doing my research for a great doctor. The selection is limited. When I met Dr. Firstenberg, he was brutally honest, very confident and extremely smart. I instantly believed that he could do this job, better then anyone. He made this horrible experience, better. I waited a year to give this review, not knowing what the outcome for me would be. He fixed my broken heart and I will be forever grateful. He rocks and so does his staff.

Dr Firstenberg took awesome care of me and spoke to me using "laymans terms" which allowed me to understand what was going on and how things should progress..(he didnt use BIG MEDICAL WORDS that non medical people would know) Always showed alot of empathy with me during the trying times of healing after surgery. Thank you to him and his staff as well as the team of wonderful nurses at OSU Ross Heart Hospital..

Had it not been for Dr. Firstenberg and his use of the ECMO machine I would not be here. He was absolutely wonderful with my family, explaining all procedures being used. Also, he was very honest about my recovery chances.Thank you Dr. Firstenberg!

Dr. Firstenberg presented a lecture today to physicians and other health professionals in another part of the country. I helped coordinate his visit. He was very decent and collaborative to work with (not all are), he spoke passionately and eloquently about his work, and clearly was asked to speak because of his expertise. I'd be willing to go to him or send a family member.
