Dr. Michael Glenn Florence, MD

Although Dr. Florence was recommended to me by two of my Doctors, I would never go to him again. He probably is competent as a surgeon as he didn't screw up my procedure. However, his bedside manner and how he communicates with patients leaves a lot to be desired. As a surgeon with his years of experience, he should know how patients react after their surgery. I received unexpected information after my surgery and asked Dr. Florence regarding it. He quickly brushed me off, gave me minimal information regarding the outcome of my surgery and was in a hurry to leave. If Dr. Florence had taken a few minutes - 2-5 minutes even - to tell me why the surgery came out differently than expected, I would have felt a lot better about him and my surgery. As it was, I was left thinking Dr. Florence was given the wrong patient tests and was covering up a mistake. Later, I questioned him about it and he quickly pointed his finger at my two other Doctors who recommended him. That's so… unprofessional. As I found out later, it was the correct patient information. I would not have sued because no harm was done. An equal part of his care is his resident physician, Dr. Aileen Hwang. When I talked with her after my surgery regarding the surprising results (Dr. Florence was not present) she was confrontational and belittling. Since he works with her, Dr. Hwang's interaction with me reflects badly on him, too.

Dr Florence has done a couple of surgeries for me and was kind enough to arrange a joint surgery with my gyn doc for one of them. He's so kind and caring and his staff is great as well.
