Dr. Michael Don Friedman, MD

I had surgery with Dr Friedman and was very happy with how thorough he was prior to the surgery.. The surgery came out great with no issues and I was also happy with the way his staff handled me. Al Souders

This doctor was very unprofessional and hasn't forgotten his oath to "do no harm" to patients. I went with my 19 year old granddaughter for a second opinion on her diagnosis of Interstital cystitis just to see if this group may have an idea of some other type of treatment or resolution for the condition. He started off by saying "What do you expect from me today?" in a rude manner. Then he proceeded to say that IC was misdiagnosed a lot and doctors just want throw it in a "wastebasket" as not sure exactly what to diagnose. He looked over my granddaughter's paperwork and saw she was on antidepressants which were prescribed to her originally by her primary doctor for depression and anxiety. Then he stated he felt like her problem was two fold, and she needed to see her psychiatrist about her problems. Basically, he was saying it was all in her head about the chronic bladder and urethra pain. Very insulting. As a matter of fact, the antidepressants she is currently on were… prescribed by her initial urology doctor to help with the chronic pain, not for depression. He constantly kept referring to her medication and psychiatrist after that. He even rolled his eyes at one point. I feel he did not provide the following: Interstitial cystitis can worsen your quality of life. Support from family and friends is important, but because the condition is a urinary problem, you may find the topic difficult to discuss. Find a supportive doctor who is concerned about your quality of life as well as your condition. Seek someone who will work with you to help relieve your urinary frequency, urgency and bladder pain. He definitely showed no support, no concern and no empathy. Will definitely not be returning to see Dr. Friedman. My granddaughter was very distraught after leaving there, feeling that he was saying it was all in her head and that she was crazy. It was very sad that he affected her in the way he spoke and acted.

First thing, this “Dr” has TERRIBLE bed side manners! & To the comment on “the people who say he has horrible bed side manners need friends” I don’t need friends I need a urologist DR who can help me. When I went in to just get a 2nd opinion on something I’m going through with major burning he told me I need to go see my physiatrist that my pain is not that bad it’s in my head b4 he even checked me. When he finally checked me he found I was extremely inflamed down there. Depression & anxiety run in my family & I put that on the paper work they give us, he asked if I was on any medication for it & if I was I need to take it like it’s prescribed & I need to go to my physiatrist on a normal basis again because he “thinks” the pain is all in my head. This pain is unbearable it’s affecting my every day life. I was trying to explain to him what I’m going through & he wouldn’t let me talk. & when I finally was able to talk he looked at me like I had 3 heads. I highly recommended another… doctor before him. My nana was with me bc I’m only 19 & this pain is getting very concerning. I just wanted answers your a urologist for god sake not a physiatrist. I was in shock by the way this man treated me. I understand a physiatrist can help you work through the pain & how to deal with it, but I was asking him as a urologist what to do for my urethra problem & how can we fix it. Need to say I will not be going back for a check up.

All these people complaining about his bedside manner perhaps need to go find some friends. I need a DOCTOR, not a mommy, and he is good at what he does. PS... his staff are an awesome group.

This doctor may have all the credentials but don't allow that to fool you. Has no bedside manner and a weird sense of humor...and there is NOTHING funny about cancer. His office staff is 50-50. Calling them gets you transferred to voicemail and then you wait for them to get back to you. Not good.

Dr. Friedman is a doctor I will no longer see due to his sarcastic attitude and rude bed side manner. He was disrespectful and not at all compassionate. When I told the nurse that the emergency room actually referred me to his partner and that I thought I would be seeing Dr. Witten, I was told that I was not allowed to switch doctors.The office staff is also disrespectful. I have left numerous messages for the nurse to return regarding medical questions. With the exception of one phone call, my calls have all been ignored. The staff in charge of billing is rude and harassed my husband and I because we are self pay (have no insurance) They refused to let us leave the office until we signed a payment plan. On a 2nd visit, the billing manager literally stood outside the exam room waiting for me to come out so that she could harass me.

I would highly recommend this doctor. He may be a bit 'to the point' for some patients, but I find his directness to be very reassuring and professional. I am a computer engineer by profession and I appreciated his bed-side manner - 'here is what I see' & 'here are OUR options'... no fluff. :)Quick to act on issue and office staff does their best to accommodate coordination of referrals and surgeries.
