Dr. Michael Adam Gershon, DO

I saw Dr. Gershon at the Northwestern urgent care in Deerfield because my left leg was swollen and entirely discolored. After doing some mobility tests he told me he had never seen anything like it (exactly what you want to hear from a doctor). I asked him if it could be a blood clot and he said definitely not. I went to the ER and was almost immediately diagnosed with a blood clot and hospitalized for three days. I shared my urgent care experience with my care team in the ER and at the hospital and they all told me it was pretty obvious that's what it was and to never go to that urgent care facility again. While I understand Dr. Gershon didn't have the tools necessary to definitively diagnose me, it's concerning that he didn't even mention the possibility of a blood clot until I asked. I would not feel comfortable with anyone I care about seeing him as a doctor.

Dr. Gershon is very thorough and empathetic. He reviewed my extensive medical history from recent months to try to help me find answers because I have not been able to find an internist who would track everything. His approach was thoughtful and he went out of his way to order tests that would help me rule out potential causes while I wait for an appointment.

Dr. Gershon has a condescending attitude. He seemed frustrated that he 'had to' answer my questions. He seemed in a hurry to get out of there (though to what, I'm not sure), as though I was 'bothering him'. He was too quick to evaluate my condition. I had to ask him a second time to listen to my breathing, as I KNEW there was an issue, but he was rather dismissive. He answered in quick, clipped statements. This is not a physician with a good bedside manner (nor does he have a high quality background, I might add.)
