Excellent doctor, good with his patients and directing hospital care givers.

He made my mother suffer in excruciating pain less than 8 hours after having open heart surgery. She was grunting, moaning, groaning, and praying to Jesus for pain relief. Her respirations were 30 which is high and is a clear indicator of pain. He made a snide remark to me asking, "If I give your mother 4 mg of IV morphine and she stops breathing, are you ok with that?" In her state of pain, I knew there was no way 4 mg of Morphine would make her stop breathing. I'm a nurse X 14 years myself and have worked in many areas including post-op ortho, emergency, and ICU, PCU float, etc., and I have never experienced a surgeon making a patient suffer like this. I hate to call the race card, but I can't think of any other reason why he would not appropriately treat her pain. It was a HORRIBLE experience!! I just wanted to take the pain away from my mother. So, although I hear he is one of the best surgeons in this area, after the surgery is done, he didn't seem to care about my mother's… suffrage. I will never forget this and it also taught me to always advocate strongly for my patients. This could have been one of his loved ones....
