Dr. Michael John Given, MD

Last year at this time I came down with a dangerous case of COVID and pneumonia. Dire straits to be sure and nobody thought I could survive. At the time I was also being treated for a couple of cancers so immunocompromised. I was an emergency patient in St. Marks hospital in salt lake city, Utah. A person appeared at my ICU glass doors - the door slid open and shut and I was faced by a complete stranger who would later turn out to be my lifesaver. Dr Givens had arrived to drain the fluid outside my lungs - he set me up in bed, put a pillow on the little table and asked me to fold my arms and rest my head on my hands. By this time word of his arrival had spread on the hospital floor and quite a number medical staff silently entered my room. Dr Given cleaned the area he had tapped for locating where the fluid was gathering and proceeded to perform a painless procedure with no fanfare, operating room or painkillers. I was shocked at how much fluid he had drained in a short time and can't… thank him enough for taking care of me. It seemed old school, gentle, brilliant and kind - I felt so much better afterwards and tried to find him and thank him in person. Dr. Given - thank you so much! I am back out in the real world and want to tell everybody who needs your medical touch to trust you as the best. Love to you and your family and your staff. A modest guy with a heart of gold. Dr. Given is both professional and down to earth. Although he is sympathetic to your troubles, he is the doctor who will tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. As my husband puts it... we're not paying for him to be sugar, we're paying for his expertise. In my experience, he is not a cookie-cutter doctor, but thinks outside the box to come up with the best possible solution for me. Dr. Given is also well-known in this area by other physicians. Almost every other doctor I have visited, like the female doctor or the respiratory therapist, all have commented on his brilliance as a physician when they find out he is my GP. I have been told numerous times he is the doctor I want to have treating me, especially for anything serious. Those comments are better than any I could give. The supporting staff is likewise friendly and professional. They return phone calls within a day, quickly take care of prescriptions and are very flexible with appointments. I… would highly recommend Dr. Given and his office to anyone.

Dr. Givens is very attentive and supportive of my symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The staff and himself are very kind and understanding. Can't wait to go back after I fill my script!
