Dr. Gutman did surgery on my father for cancer in his parotid gland. The surgery was fine but his follow up care was a nightmare. My father had two complications, both of which may have been due to how Dr. Gutman and his staff operated. My father is 89 and a precious soul with almost no hearing left. My mom, who is 81, repeatedly called Dr. Gutman’s office to get help after the first complication and was told to take him to her primary care because their were no doctors available to see him. The primary care was furious, would not see him and they ended up in the ER. The second complication took five days and multiple phone calls before my father was seen, in an office 40 minutes from home, and Dr. Gutman cleaned out his wound with no pain or numbing medication. My father could not hear, did not know he was going to dig into the wound, and said the pain was excruciating but he did not want to say anything because he was trying to be “tough.” The entire experience was stressful, poorly… executed, and what kind of doctor digs in an 89 year old cancer patients neck without even offering pain/numbing medication. Maybe someone who is arrogant and far too busy to care? He has too many patients, too many offices, and the care is completely compromised by the overload. I believe Dr. Gutman started in medicine to help people but he’s lost sight of that. Don’t trust your loved ones to his care unless you are okay with complications, a complete lack of after care, and a doctor so busy and uncaring that he performs painful procedures without proper preparation or explanation to the patient. It was shocking and archaic!!! I was personally there for the surgery, the endless phone calls to get help, and both after care appointments so this not secondhand documentation. Maybe if some patients decide to be seen in a different practice, Dr. Gutman and his staff will have time to return to quality patient care practices!!!

I have seen dr. Gutman a total of 3 times and have now scheduled surgery with him. He is friendly, knowledgable and put me at ease as we discussed my surgery. I am completely confident that he will do a great job. He and his staff are great

This dude is one of the worst ENT in the state of Arizona and perhaps the nation. He reprimanded my sister for going to the ER when she experienced severe chest pain and pain with numbness in one side of the face. But yet he wouldn't give her an appointment and disregarded her case as urgent. He didn't even read the report of the diagnostic tests she had. His behavior has been unethical, incompetent, ineffective and inefficient. I am seriously considering reporting him to the AMA.

Although it was a same day appointment, the receptionist told me to come right in...what she didn't tell me is that I would wait and wait and wait. We waited an hour and a half before the doctor came into the room. We waited in reception area for an hour then the room for more than 30 minutes. The doctor was friendly, but his support staff was direct and to the point and not a people person. When you (the patient) try to ask questions with the nurse, you are treated like you are inferior person and I didn't care for that but all in all he seems to know his job and that's what matters most. Scheduled for surgery more to come...

Dr. Gutman is a very good doctor and surgeon. Sadly, the fact that he is a good doctor is overshadowed by the fact that his staff doesn't admit when they make a mistake and instead treat the customer as though they are ignorant. Finally, I feel that it is important to note that the average waiting time ranges from 30-90 minutes so you may want to bring a book with you.

Dr. Gutmans was very professional and spent a great deal of time with my daughter who was the patient. He asked questions and made good recommendations for us.
