Dr. Michael Halista is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of coronary artery disease and valvular heart conditions. Dr. Halista is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). His procedural focus includes minimally invasive, catheter-based therapies, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral and tricuspid valve repair and replacement, left atrial appendage closure, percutaneous coronary intervention, and complex coronary interventions.
Dr. Halista has also been involved in research throughout his training. He is published in several leading cardiovascular journals alongside some of the most influential figures in the field, including Valentin Fuster, Sripal Bangalore, and Peter Block. His research involves work pertaining to structural and coronary interventions, advanced heart failure, circulatory support devices, and peripheral …vascular disease. He has presented his work nationally at meetings of the American College of Cardiology, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics, and the Heart Failure Society of America.
Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. Halista earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City after obtaining his undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City before pursuing cardiovascular and interventional cardiology training at NYU, where he served as chief fellow during his interventional year. He then completed a dedicated Structural Heart Fellowship with Dr. John Vavalle at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before joining the South Florida Heart Institute team at Delray Medical Center.
Dr. Halista is passionate about delivering the latest innovation in cardiovascular care with a patient-centered approach.
