Dr. Michael Austin Healey, DO

Beware of Dr. Healey. He seems to go by different names (perhaps to avoid his negative history, I'm not sure). M. Austin Healey, or Micheal A. Healey. My experience with this doctor was the worst I've experienced. He very arrogant, argumentative and accusatory. He seems to need to be "right" over providing accurate care for the patient. It's hard to believe how negative my interaction was with this person. I switched doctors because I honestly feel like his approach and personality is a danger to his patent.

Short summary: I am a 26 year old female and I went to Dr. Healey, after being his patient for roughly a year, with concerns of hip pain and low mobility. Dr. Healey ordered an MRI, he did not review the imagery and proceeded to tell me that the symptoms were caused by “anxiety”, prescribed me an antipsychotic, and wrote in my chart that I expressed concern about not being able to control my emotions (completely falsified). I have hip dysplasia and coxa valga, none of my symptoms were in my head and I need major surgery to prevent a total hip replacement. Dr. Michael Austin Healey is a disgrace and I am ashamed to have supported his career.

Dr. Healey is a fantastic physician. I feel like he spends time carefully listening to patients. He takes care in fully explaining not only what he thinks the solution is, but how he got to that conclusion. I have never felt rushed in his office and he just genuinely seems like a great guy.

He treats you like you are just a number, and not a person. Been going to the practice since I was a child, but will be looking for a new GP because of him. He doesn't take into account a persons life and treats patients like everything that happens to them is their fault. I wish he hadn't come to the NCC, he is terrible compared to the others that we all came to love, and who actually cared about us as people.

Dr. Healy seemed really nice of the 1st visit so I continued to see him for treatment (my regular doctor retired and he filled the slot in the practice). Things went downhill from there. 2nd visit he cut me off and was dismissive/condescending when I tried to explain a medical condition I have. Then he called in a medication I told him I couldn't take. When trying to get a refill for a medication I've taken for 6 years, I was told I needed to come in again (for the 3rd time) because he wanted to be sure everything was stable (this wasn't for anything controlled, or something for mood-not sure what he was looking to check). Apparently, he couldn't be bothered to look at my chart. I've been going to the same practice for almost 30 years so it was all there for him to review. More and more I felt like a source of income instead of a person. So, I'm looking for a new GP.

Terrible doctor! Was sick as a dog and he told me it was allergies and stress! When I respectfully disagreed -- he said -- "whatever" and walked out of the room. Left and went to an instacare and got well-needed antibiotics and eye drops for massive eye infection!
