Dr. Michael Paul Heffernan, MD

Dr. Heffernan knows his stuff and is thorough. He’s also very pleasant.

I believe there are better dermatologists to be found. I base this on having been to two other dermatologists, one in Nevada and one in Arizona. Dr. Heffernan does not give the impression that he is being thorough when doing a full-body exam for skin cancer. He also does not communicate enough information to the patient about skin conditions found, the treatment options, and procedural issues BEFORE treatment is scheduled. If asked a question, he is condescending and patronizing in his reply -- but responds with a smile which covers up his apparent disregard for the patient's concerns. It is clear that his practice is a business, with a thinly-veiled medical cast to it. Look elsewhere for a dermatologist if you want one who cares about your skin and your health beyond the business plan.

I was a patient of Heffernan’s for a year and very dissatisfied with his treatment. The skin cancer treatment was satisfactory, however he was not able to diagnose my other skin condition, which is why I was seeing him. It appears to have been a complete waste oft time. I do not recommend him.
