Dr. Michael David Hein, MD

Great doctor, to bad he closed, but when he did he forgot one important prescription. Guess I'll be getting no sleep cause I'll be peeing all night till I get another endocrinologist.

I have been a patient of Doctor Hein for over 10 years. He has always been very thorough and explains my condition to me in detail. He is understanding and never rushes my visit. He reassures me that I will be OK and always asks if I need anything or have any questions. A few months ago I had a situation where my sugar levels kept rising. I called him at 11:00 P.M. on a Friday night and left a message with the answering service. Within five minutes Dr. Hein returned my call and explained to me what was happening and how to solve my problem. I could not ask for a better or more caring doctor. In addition, Dr. Hein has an outstanding, wonderful compliment of people that make up his staff. They are polite, knowledgeable, and efficient at coordinating things which makes a patient's visit a comfortable experience. I truly appreciate everything they do and highly recommend Doctor Hein. D. Dr. Hein is very straight forward and many patients may not like that. But he really cares about helping you out. I consider him one of my top Doctors. He's always been very pleasant to me and his staff is excellent, especially Kathleen. I can't say enough about how many times she has helped me with getting the best meds at prices that I can afford.

“God” complex.

Dr. Hein has been my Endocrinologist for approx 17 years. He diagnosed 3 major issues that none of my other doctors had caught. He took the time to listen to my issues and understand what I was feeling before dismissing my illness to something else as my previous doctors had done. Because of this my life has turned around. I have always been treated with nothing but the best of care and service. The office staff is great and goes out of there way to accommodate my needs. I highly recommend Dr. Hein!

Having been a patient of Dr. Hein for almost fifteen years now, I am shocked by what I have read on this site. I have found Dr. Hein and his team to be nothing but professional. More than that, it is obvious to me that he truly cares. Dr. Hein tells it like it is. He does not sugar-coat things (pun intended, since he is my diabetes doctor). I like that about him. I do not go to a doctor to have them say things to me to make me feel good. I go to a doctor to have them ACTUALLY make me feel good. Diabetes is challenging, all the time. Dr. Hein takes the time to explain things thoroughly, to understand, and to figure things out. I cannot count the number of times over the years, when I have spoken DIRECTLY to Dr. Hein in the middle of the night, because I was having an issue. How many doctors are there who are not only willing to speak directly to their patient at 3AM, but who, after being woken up at that hour, recall the particulars of that patient's condition? I have recommended Dr.… Hein to several friends, who found themselves in need of an endocrinologist, and I will continue to recommend him to others. As I battle this frustrating disease called diabetes, he is the one I want on my team, fighting alongside me.

After making 3 attempts to book an appointment Im giving up. He is rude, insulting and his staff doesn't seem to care whether you are seen.

These reviews were very helpful for me. I thought it was something about me personally. Having changed my thyroid medication a couple of months before I went for a follow-up. Shame on me - I had put on 4 pounds only to be told that I must have taken on a part-time job just eating - and it showed!

I am 25-years-old and I am a registered nurse. I have never had a problem with health professionals before. I never dreamed I'd actually go out of my way to complain about an experience! I was so upset after getting off the phone with the receptionist at Dr. Hein's office, that I was in tears! I was told by my primary care provider that my labs were abnormal and that I may have diabetes. This November, I called to schedule an appt and was told that Dr Hein makes his own appts and that I would hear back in "a few days". I attempted to tell the receptionist my schedule in order to make sure that I would be available. She would not accept this information and told me that I would have to take whatever I was given. She called me back the next day and gave me an appt at the end of March!!! I let her know that I could not wait over 4 months to see a doctor, as I may have diabetes... her response: "well then it looks like you won't be seeing an endocrinologist then". She was beyond… disrespectful. I was disgusted after getting off the phone with her. I immediately called another endocrinologist and got an appt 4 days from my call! I was diagnosed and had a wonderful experience. I can not comment on Dr. Hein himself, as I never heard from him.. but I will say that scheduling me for 4-5 months away, when I most likely had diabetes, was neglectful and dangerous! There are so many wonderful endocrinologists in the area, I suggest you go somewhere else!
