Dr. Michael Patrick Hemphill, MD

Physical aspects of exam weren't a problem--he was gentle, though his lack of conversational skills during the exam could have used serious improvement, barely said a word. My biggest issue (sadly, he is in the majority of OBGYNs here) he doesn't take symptoms of perimenopause seriously. Felt like he had the 'hand on the door knob' attitude and wouldn't be bothered to listen to how bad these symptoms can get because according to him, still getting a period negates it all. That and a lack of documentation of ND issue in file makes me feel hehe invalidated and I will be looking for a new OBGYN in person and separately to handle to challenging symptoms in the new year. He was just 'OK' but I need more than 'OK', I need to be felt like I'm being seen and validated and this provider wasn't providing it.

Dr Hemphill is a great OBGYN who genuinely cares about his patients' well-being and by far the best in the business.

I went to Dr. Hemphill when my normal OBGYN was unavailable (within the same practice) and I was in need of a visit fairly quickly. I never met him prior, but instantly felt put at ease given the circumstance, and so much so that I decided to make him my new doctor. He oversaw my treatment (which led me to have to seek a Gynecological Oncologist), and always offered time to speak to me with concerns. He's light-hearted and friendly, with a demonstrated level of expertise. I have been going to him now for over 2 years and would follow him anywhere. I should note I normally don't write these reviews, but given some of the prior feedback, I felt compelled. I should also note I'm afraid that people will discover what an amazing doctor he really is and he will get too popular. :)

He is probably more suitable as an ER surgeon where there is less expectation and need for conversations with patients. As a male practicing female medicine, he needs to be more aware of his interaction style which is borderline rude and not helpful for trust building. He really needs to lose the chewing gum (unprofessional habit), and did he not ever learn to smile?

Doctor was decent, no major problems but the exam was rushed and he didn't really speak to me personally. The office was a mess- it was crowded and busy and I waited for 45 minutes for my appointment. The office staff were rude and acted like I was an inconvenience.

Had a colposcopy done by Dr.Hemphil and he lost one of the biopsies of my cervix and had no explanation medical notes or idea what happened to one of the four samples he took, unbelievable incompetence.

Dr. Hemphill was gentle, friendly/nice, and did not show any major medical incompetence. However, his explanation of procedures and results was lacking. I did not get enough information about what to expect going into my procedure nor the technical details of my test results. He also did not deliver any of the results himself, not sure who I was speaking to about them (nurse, nurse practitioner, other doctor) and have not been able to get a call directly with him. The office is constantly running 40 minutes or more late, the staff is rude, it is impossible to get a phone call through to reach your doctor or any human being at the office, there is a limited window of time you can even leave a message, and messages are not promptly returned.

Upon getting new insurance I made an appointment with women's health services. I panicked when I arrived at the appointment and they told me my appointment was with a male doctor. Having only seen female doctors for the past 15 years I was extreamly nervous. The overal experience was very positive. I have seen him 3 times in the last year & he is an excellent doctor. He is also very gentle during exams & procedures. He takes time answer & explain any questions or concerns I have & I don't ever feel rushed during the visit. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Hemphill is a wonderful, caring, and compasionate doctor. I am fortunate to have found him and to have his guidance with the birth of my first child. He is knowledgeable and down-to-earth, just perfect!
