Dr. Michael Sean Hooker, MD

He's been my pain management doctor for nearly 5 years now. I don't know what I would have done if I had never met him. He has given to me something no one before him had been capable of. Being as pain-free as I will ever be. I told him not that long ago that he is the Couch Boutique among the dollar store knockoffs! The world is a much better place because of this kind and talented man. How many lives has he saved with his magic touch, unwavering skill, and dedication to his patients?!

My 72y/o brother was taken to AGH Emergency Room after a fall from the back of a truck; he fell on his right hip and was having pain. A co-worker drove him there and remained with him during his ER stay. He was seen by a P.A. who was consulting with Dr. Hooker (not present in the hospital). A CT scan was done and determined him to have a “fracture of the right hip” according to his paperwork. He was told he had a fracture, but both the P.A. and Dr. Hooker (according to the P.A.) had agreed that “it’s not that bad”, that they were discharging him to home with a walker (no instruction on how to use it), and to let it heal on its own and to not put much weight on the leg. He was told to call Dr. Hooker’s office the next day for a follow-up appointment. Once he got home, the pain was so bad, he was taken by ambulance to another local hospital and required surgery the following day to repair the fracture. I find it appalling that this happened and would never go to this physician for… any problem.

I first met Dr. Hooker nearly a decade ago at Riverside. I had a femur break where another great Doctor repaired it but the hospital assigned me to another doctor for follow up. That doctor promised me that I was healing up just fine for almost 2 months. I finally questioned him based on my own observations and was immediately turned over to Dr. Hooker who immediately recognized that I had a delayed union and another surgery was needed to resolve the issue. Dr. Hooker is a very straightforward person who tells you exactly what needs to be done in his expert opinion. I'm thankful for that because I healed up great within a few additional months. This year I needed medical attention for my other leg where I tore a meniscus and experienced a variety of pain and limitations. I traveled nearly 200 miles to Berlin, MD to have Dr. Hooker repair it. He recognized another issue while I underwent that surgery and was in need of a total knee replacement. He recommended I wait a few months to… proceed. Just a week ago I traveled to him again to have my total knee replacement and was able to walk unassisted out of the hospital that same day. He provided detailed information and educated me on what to expect every moment of the process so there were no surprises such as after a few days of great progress, great pain would set in but finally subside and explanations of what other unusual developments may occur during the healing process. He provided detailed information to me so nothing would catch me off guard. His passion and attention to detail coupled with his impeccable ability to relate to his patients is beyond measure. He communicates with me in a way that I can understand and feel comfortable that everything would be fine. Thank you Dr. Hooker for your skills, great customer service and treating patients like people whom you sincerely care about. This is what customer service and taking care of people is all about! Bravo Zulu!!!

The Berlin area and AGH are so very lucky to have Dr. SEAN HOOKER here. Kind, compassionate and knowledgeable are just a few terms to describe him. Great bedside manner, describes everything well and answers all questions. His staff is also very nice, EVERYONE IS PROFESSIONAL. So very happy with my husband's recovery from total hip replacement. Wish we could have met him much earlier. We highly recommend Dr. Hooker and staff.

Dr. Hooker's commitment to providing the highest level of cutting edge (no pun intended) technique and skill is not only impressive, but is fully communicated to the his Patients. I know this because he was extremely willing pre and post surgery to provide full explanations, and to give important information to issues I was not aware. But the time and volume of questions he seemed more than willing to answer, go WAY beyond my previous experience with Medical Professionals. This also true for his concern and commitment to the specific quality of life issues, specific to each individual patient. In terms of those who include myself, whose life style is super active and athletic, and whose quality of recovery is critical to renewing a rich lifestyle ..... Dr. Hooker has to be put at the top of the list for Sports Surgeons. My own experience was a ruptured tendon on a Thursday evening, Dr. Hooker examining on Friday morning, and operating on that Friday afternoon. I think that… says it all about Dr Hooker as a Practitioner and as a Person.

I accompanied a friend to an office visit with Dr. Hooker. He was bully like and dismissed her bone on bone knee pain. He talked about her condition in a way that she could not understand. He used medical terms and descriptions that were complicated and not easy to follow causing her confusion. He talked over her when she asked questions. He was extremely demeaning. He told her that he was "tired of her dramatics" as she tryied to get on the exam table. He had no patience with her at all. You could see that he was irritated by her questions. He body language was menacing. Bottom line he is a bully. If you are elderly stay away from this Doctor.

do not go to him he work on my left shoulder and first time it keep coming out the second time he caused an infection and than my troubles began i had to go to a a professional Doctor who knew what he was doing and now it still mess up from the first and second operation

For the past 5 years I have suffered debilitating knee and leg pain despite seeing several orthopedic and sports medicine doctors. They all said I have arthritis and prescribed NSAIDs. My first visit with Dr. Hooker was a real shocker! He not only examined me in a way no other doctor had, but eliminated the pain almost immediately by giving me 3 injections in my leg. As far as I'm concerned, he is the best orthopedic physician in the area....and a miracle worker.

While I was vacationing in Ocean City Maryland, I had the unfortunate experience to fall on the boardwalk and broke my right hip. Dr. Hooker to the rescue. Not only was he able to give me a total hip replacement, he was both professional and personable. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Dr. Hooker! The surgery went well and I am on the road to recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Hooker!

My husband was scheduled for an appointment with Dr Hooker to talk about surgery for his shoulder, but when we met with him, he stated that he wouldn't be doing the surgery as he was leaving for good in 2 weeks. Why schedule with him when they knew he was leaving. He stated that he would refer him to another ortho dr, and have been waiting since Feb 14th, and still no appointment has been set up, 2 weeks later.
