Dr. Michael Ernest Jones, DO

My personal experience with Michael E. Jones was truthfully dreadful. When I arrived after having suffered increased severity in my headaches following a car accident months prior (and wanting to both check on the possibility of the accident being a factor in these migraines and the undiagnosed cause of my history of headaches) he focused primarily on my mental health history and childhood trauma. The synopsis of our conversation amounted to contrary opinions, his being that my headaches were stress based and purely psychological. At his behest I attended a psychiatric appointment, explained my physical symptoms to a psychiatrist, my mental health history over my lifetime, and my psychological symptoms expressed in said mental illness, the opinions of Mr.Jones towards the nature of my headaches (a neurologist) and the opinions and diagnosis of my psychologist on my mental health. The psychiatrist agreed that my symptoms did not seem psychological in nature, he sympathized and… suggested that it was likely Mr.Jones had simply read my mental health history and chalked my diagnosis up to (as he put it) "she's crazy; my job is done!...as doctors often do". The psychiatrist suggested I seek a different doctor. I continued with Mr.Jones, however, and my care and condition quickly worsened. Mr.Jones was not convinced of the psychistrist's assessment of my psychological state, the psychiatrist his office referred me to (who also works for Adena), and persisted in the belief my symptoms were psychological. This was demoralizing and somewhat belittling; it felt very akin to ableism. A professional psychiatrist had assessed my mental state and agreed that it did not seem to factor into the situation. I informed Mr.Jones the medication he had prescribed (a medication I had formerly been on and saw no progress with, a medication I requested not to be put on again) was not working and my migraines were actually worsening. I told him I ceased taking the medication because of this. He asserted that my worsening headaches were from not following his treatment plan. He doubled the dosage. Note that I had told him my migraines were worse AFTER he had placed me on this medication. At this point, on this medication, my migraines got progressively more horrific. I would get physically ill without cause, horrifically dizzy, dazed, confused, and weak to the point of having difficulty breathing. My symptoms had increased ten fold. Because I had orginally went to Mr.Jones to treat what had been slowly worsening headaches following the recovery after a concussion, and because he was a medical professional insistent that my actions were wrong in stopping the medication, I did not assume that the medication was the cause of the malady but that the actual cause was progressively getting worse. It took me a few weeks of confused pain to connect that the medication was the root cause of the spiraling severity of my symptoms. I ceased the medication again and shortly these new symptoms disappeared. I continued to have headaches consistent with the previous severity I had experienced when first beginning his care. I discontinued care with Mr.Jones as he did not, in any way, take into account my own experience with my personal physical condition. He discredited my perspective on my health to the point of ignoring not only my statements my mental state but my physical one as well and the result was my physical decline. My voice in my care was not respected, I was not respected, and I lost significant respect for Adena in the process. I will seek care elsewhere in the future. I suggest others do the same.

I can’t say enough great things about Dr Jones!!! He has given me back my life!!! I NO longer suffer from horrible, unmanageable migraines!!

Would not recommend whatsoever. Despite severe head pain and dizziness resulting in falling numerous times, he offered no help. After some basic testing he deduced that the symptoms must simply be in my head because I have depression. My depression has been better but he disagrees for some odd reason, as he has no way of knowing either way. Despite trips to the ER, he stands firm I am imagining everything. Very curt, uncompassionate and unfriendly. Nurse was insensitive and snobby. He is very condescending and not even worth a single visit.

Dr. Jones is a straight forward Dr. and I truly feel he is in this practice for us the patients not the money.

Dr. Jones was very professional and knowledgeable of my medical condition. He made me fill comfortable and his staff was extremely helpful.

My daughter was seen by this "physician" on several occasions to help oversee care for a genetic neurological disorder. Our local health facility did not have a neurologist and we were forced by circumstance to be at the mercy of this misogynistic, overbearing, inept excuse for a physician. His office repeatedly cancelled appointments and we would wait months for another. Then upon actually getting into an appointment, he would raise his voice and accuse us of not keeping our earlier appointments, when we would inform him we had been cancelled, and rescheduled this far out, he called us liars. We would follow this man's directives to the letter, and then he would question why we did..i.e...he told my daughter not to go to the ER for her headaches, she never had before, we did not then..then at her appointment questioned why, if she was having increased symptoms, she did not go to the ER. I calmly stated, "Because you instructed her not to". He looked at me and told me I was… overbearing and most probably her cause of headaches. We did find a neurologist in our area recently and my daughter is getting excellent care. We had trouble getting her records from this man's office. When we finally did, his notes where more about my daughter's socio-economic status and that her fiance' did not accompany her at her appointments, and that he found me overbearing in my knowledge of her disorder, than anything about her health prognosis or condition. My daughter did not want to see this man after the first visit. I encouraged her, as I felt that possibly he might have a poor bedside manner, yet be very knowledgeable, I was seriously mistaken. He was neither knowledgeable, nor rational in his behaviors and suggestions. He was (and I feel I am being generous) abusive in his demeanor.I could not in good conscience recommend anyone obtaining treatment from this man. We probably should bring the matter to the attention of Adena Health Systems. But my daughter just wishes to forget about it and move on. My concern is for others who may fall victim to his abusive and irrational behaviors.

I saw him in his Jackson office. It was clear that for whatever reasons,he did not like me from the beginning. He spoke to me in a condescending manner. He made fun of my body language and went as far as to say I was making up my symptoms and pain.He would ask me how I felt then get mad at what I told him.He kept cancelling appointments and then blammed me for not keeping them. He even accused me of showing up only to get pills. (Like I have fun with my Depakote). His office called me two hours earlier than my appointment time to ask if I was on my way. They said he had two cancellations and was waiting just for me. I told them I could come in early. When I got there he asked me rather rudley if I had changed my mind and decided to keep my appointment. I informed him that I in fact was there way earlier than my appointment time because I was told two other people had cancelled. This man has problems.This man does not need to be a doctor.

I'm a recovered addict of Fioricet...I was dicrimanated against! he insisted i'm on soma when in reality I'm on (was) robaxin. Ihave documents from my primary care dr, pharmacy that i'm not on somas. recieved my medical records today and was shocked to learn that he put in them that I have had breast surgery and still have menstrual periods1 I think he need a drug test

This doctor showed absolutely no care for his patient. He acted as if it were an inconvience for me to be there. His tests - for a serious condidtion - were overly simple. No followup was even scheduled.
