Dr. Michael Patrick Jones, MD

I became ill in May of 2019. I could barely eat, and was shedding pounds daily. Dr. Jones ran a few tests, all were negative. When I came back still looking for an answer he genuinely seemed annoyed that I was even there. I was so sick, I could barely stand most days. After a few months of testing(MRIs, colonoscopy), he was basically like “oh well.” He didn’t seem to care at all, and when my mom and I pushed him for anything else, he seemed incredibly irritated. Keep in mind I lost 40 lbs in 4 months. I found to a new doctor and was diagnosed with gastroparesis within 3 weeks. This office is fine for routine work, but if you expect anything more than that, go to someone else.

My previous doctor retired and I called this office to see Dr. Jones as he was recommended by some people. I called the office and they said that they wouldn't see me without an order from my PCP because of a back office handshake agreement with Gastrointestinal Specialists not to see their patients because Dr. Ben Bradenham had retired. I don't agree with that or even think it is fair or ethical. But okay, I will play along. I go to my PCP and get the order (after having to pay for a visit). I then call back to schedule the appointment and am told that despite following their office recommendation that I will not be able to schedule an appointment with the doctor that I have to go back to the other practice because of their handshake agreement. When I pushed back saying that I had not seen a specialist in over 5 years (!!!) and mine was retired; they put me on hold to go ask the doctor (or to take a bathroom break who knows). They come back on the phone and say that the doctor… refuses to see me and that I have to go back to the other practice. The woman kept saying, "We are just a small practice. It is our policy." Here's the kicker. I call the practice I used to go to back and ask for a release so I can see who I want to see for my healthcare needs. (Shocking I know!) The woman who answers the phone tells me that she has no idea what I am talking about and they never had a handshake agreement with Mitchell Endoscopy and that I am free to see whomever I want. Just avoid this guy. If that's how he operates, he can keep his handshake agreement and unethical operations.

Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Dr. Jones does an excellent job of putting you at ease. I highly recommend this physician.
