Dr. Michael Darwin Killpack, MD

At age @#$%^ (somewhere between Tomi Lahren and Thanatos), I have seen my fair share of physicians during my long life: The good, bad, indifferent, nondescript, uncaring, overwrought, under-appreciative, etc. Doctor Killpack's "people skills" are excellent. His guidance and assistance to me during the past five years have been invaluable. Succinctly, I would not be alive today without his care.

Yesterday at Alpine Medical Group I had the worst customer service experience I've ever had in a health care setting. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment, checked in with a receptionist, and then was forced to wait 1 hour 45 minutes because of a mix-up with the check-in process. After 45 minutes, I called the staff's attention to the fact that I'd been overlooked. It turned out their check-in process was broken. Instead of saying, "We're so sorry--we'll make this right" and getting me in to see the doctor right away, they made me wait for another hour while a whole slew of people with appointments later than mine got to see the doctor ahead of me. I won't go back to this medical office.

I saw him for the first time today. I thought he was a good listener and very capable.

Dr Killpack is the best primary care doctor I have ever had. He is compassionate and patient centered. He is exceptionally gifted with persons with special needs(including disabled, elderly). He is emotionally intelligent in that he doesn't provide opinions for specialties he is not trained for. You can feel a genuine interest in your wellbeing. In every area that is within is skillset, I have seen an improvement

This doctor's background is Internal Medicine, but has not been practicing it for several years (he's definitely more general). He states he is uncomfortable with patients who have HIV and does not like to prescribe medication for them. He usually refers the patient to another doctor for specific HIV cases. Is not concerned with your pain level and will not not give out pain medications at all even in appropriate situations. His manner is dry, unemotional, and to the point. He will interact very little with you. I don't recommend him to HIV patients at all.
