Dr. Michael Richard Kinnan, MD

(for a recent visit at the New Ulm location) I honestly didn't realize he was the doctor at first. It seemed like the nurses were more with it than he was. I just thought he was a new nurse, with that kind of arrogance that newbies have sometimes. For a guy who has been in practice for 20ish years, you would think that he would have some knowledge of epilepsy. You would be wrong. You'd think he could write accurate medical notes. You'd be wrong there, too. Some types of epilepsy are difficult to diagnose, and not all manifest as grand mal seizures. The thing is, we didn't need a diagnosis from him--but rather stabilizing, and determining possible triggers. What we got was a doctor trying to push someone's flexed arm down during a seizure, saying that the eyes were intentionally rolling upward, and treating the patient like the seizures weren't real. This was also a patient on the autism spectrum, a condition he also appears to not have a great understanding of. It bothers me that… he serves more than just the New Ulm location. It means that everyone has an equal chance of having to deal with Dr Kinnan.

My daughter had a peanut stuck in her nose. He and his team were able to retrieve it after the clinic made multiple failed attempts. Dr Kinnan was so nice to my daughter and even brought her a sticker afterwards. 5 stars!!!

Very pleasant. Made a tough day easier to manage.

Very courteous. Very patient and gentle with my child. The ER was chaotic that night with an intoxicated patient causing commotion. He did a great job with the stitches.

I saw this doctor and was not impressed. Before asking about my history he started accusing me of drug seeking. I was not impressed, did not feel respected and was in incredible pain. He seemed to twist everything I said to something negative when in fact I was experiencing chronic pain that was unmanageable at the time and desperately needed medical advice. I left with shame and guilt instead of health and hope.

Rude, condescending, lacks empathy. Absolutely the worst Dr I have ever encountered. It's unfortunate that Allina has him on staff. He has zero bedside manner. I'd actually rate him less than 1 star if that was an available option. (my rating is based on the experience with the Dr only - the other staff was wonderful)

I was seen within just a couple of minutes of getting to the room. Very efficient doctor and staff. Doctor was pleasant and helpful. Couldn't ask for better!!
