Dr. Michael Steven Lebowitz, MD

Dr Lebowitz is a very old psychiatrist. Maybe that is why he is so creepy. But it is very weird to go to him very often. He is good at prescribing the drugs that I need so I keep going to him.

I was diagnosed bipolar 25 years ago. I haven’t had a psychiatrist as good as lebowitz since he diagnosed me.

Dr.Michael Lebowitz is a rare find. He diagnosed my condition & took the time to talk with me. We've explored medications & found my personal cocktail, which works. Thru the years we have made changes when warranted for my best quality of life. Dr. L has a way of making you & your time with him never cut short or trivial. If you have called for any reason there is no doubt that your call will be returned promptly. Many other Dr.s don't give of themselves to us, the patient. I've always felt his concern & know that his actions were for a better life for me. His staff is unique , they aren't just working their hours, they engage and remember the patients, your not just "penciled in". Dr.L makes daily visits and addresses any concerns during any stay at CHOMP if warranted & agreed upon. Five stars just doesn't accurately cover all that Dr.Lebowitz patients receive while in his care! **********

Very understanding

Dr. Mike Lebowitz has been my psychiatrist for over 30 years. I was very upset to read the reviews about him being a drug pusher. He has stuck by me for 30 years through all my ups and downs with bipolar depression and suicidal ideation. We have had to try many medications over the years but he has stuck with me through it all. He is the most supportive, kind, pharmacologically knowledgeable psychiatrist I have ever known or met. Referred to me by a social worker of 50 years experience. He has gone overtime on appointments when he was concerned with my mental health.He Has made emergency appointments when my meds weren't working. He has done shock treatment on me two times which saved my life. He consults ongoing with Stanford University. I have seen other psychiatrist when hospitalized that overmedicated me compared to when he was my doctor at the hospital. He is well known for his knowledge of medications and interactions. I have never met a more caring doctor in my life. I am a… difficult patient. People have to understand you must try different medications and combinations when you have bipolar depression to finally find the right combination. It can be a long and difficult process. He returns my calls within 24 hours if not within two hours which other doctors do not at CHOMP. I know several other people that see him and feel the way I do. I will have to let them know about theis site. I have recommended several people to him over the years who he has helped tremendously. You are a lucky person if you're able to get an appointment with him. My parents trusted him with my life as do I. You can't say that about many doctors.

I agree with the person who said this doctor is a "drug pusher." Be wary of psychiatrists like this, they are questionable at best in their practices, and depending on who you talk to, abusive and will take advantage of people who are already hurting.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lebowitz for over 17 years. I never had to see doctor in this type of medical field before, but I went to him upon referral from a nurse from CHOMP. He was very thorough in his diagnosis, and certainly not a doctor to give medications freely, as we had to try many before we found the right one that worked for my condition. He listed to my concerns and questions without rushing me out of his office with assurance and compassion. He gave me my life back..thank you so much!

This man should not even be considered a Dr. he is closer to a Drug pusher. A relative of mine was under his "care" for over 5 years and in that time I watched him go from a functional member of society to a drug dependent husk of the person he once was. Not only did "Dr" give him too many drugs he also fried half of his heart with Electro-Shock treatments. Stay far far far away from this so called "Doctor" and find someone who will actually listen to you and who cares. Not someone who is in it for the money from the drug companies and insurance.
