Dr. Michael David Lesem, MD

first of all, I’ve seen Dr. Lesem for 10+ years now and the people leaving these bad reviews should have asked him why he's giving you that response. if you’re sad about losing a baby or a specific event that’s happened in your life you should talk to a therapist, not a psychiatrist. Also, for someone who says they know about medical malpractice, they should probably look into why their PCP or ObGYN didn’t tell them they had ovarian cancer, which would be cause To lose a child at 20 weeks. That would be in the scope of THEIR fields as physicians, not Dr. Lesems. It was assumed that because they did their jobs as physicians, that you were healthy and he was doing his by suggesting you get help for what looked like an eating disorder. he did the right thing. Dr. Lesem is the best doctor and he is so empathetic because he too has also been through it. if you don’t understand something, ask questions. Do not call the staff multiple times a day asking for medical advice, because it’s… illegal for them to give you that. Apparently, it’s not common sense but do not reach out to him personally if you’re going through a crisis, because that’s a very easy way for him to lose his license and that’s so inappropriate. He is a better doctor than he should be after reading all of these things and I really hope that he doesn’t retire.

Dr. Lesem is very, very knowledgeable and an expert in his field. He is kind and caring. He listens and talk a lot sharing all of his knowledge about psych. I found that he remembered information about me. He sees many patients and I found this impressive that he still remembers every individual. Even for late in the day appointments, he has always been professional, and patient. He does not care about the clock like every doctor out there, he takes as long as the patients need. The staff are young. They are very welcoming and friendly. They too have impressed me with taking care of business if there are any hiccups with my insurance or the dam pharmacists. I highly recommend Dr. Lesem.

Been seeing Dr. Lesem for almost 2 years. At first everything seemed good. Nice, professional staff, and a psychiatrist that seemed very knowledgeable. But since day one, I never left his office feeling better about myself nor anything he talked about. Instead, I always left confused and with a lot of self-doubt. But I kept going, didn't give up hope on a doctor that somehow made me believe he could help me, nor wanted to draw a bad conclusion on my first visit. Later my perspective of him and his staff changed negatively. First and for most, for this people to work in the Behavioral Mental Illness field, they are so incompetent, useless, unprofessional and irresponsible. His staff either don't care or are clueless as to what they are doing. Nice people, horrible service. Never return calls, it's difficult to get in contact with them, making it hard to get refills, or even ask simple questions. I was experiencing panic attacks, couldn't sleep for days, so I call to get an advice of… what I should do. Should I go to the ER? Maybe I need to change medication? Sleeping pills? I was so desperate I called multiple times a day, for several days, NO ANSWER, NEVER. They obviously have caller ID they know who is calling so my calls start going directly to voicemail. Dr. Lesem finally called me his tone of voice told me he didn't care, it's my fault, and send me to take a sleeping test that I paid for and where he never bothered to follow up with. This man can be very condescending, does all the talking and interrupts when I want to speak. His ego sometimes gets to him, gives you an attitude of I'm right your wrong and what your experiencing is your fault. Always arrives late to my 3pm app. Our session starts15-20 min late and he likes to rush me out the door. I'm in there less than an hour. But trust me my insurance gets charged a sweet amount of money "worth" an hour session according to their claim. Plus, I pay a deductible every time I walk in there. Now, after seeing this man for 2 years, it wasn't util our last meeting (3 weeks ago) that he finally had this great idea of me going to my doctor for a health check-up, a physical, blood work, etc. In order to rule out any other possibility of having a health disease that could be affecting my mental and emotional wellbeing, so he can have a better understanding or approach of how to help me. I'm not the one with an MD or PA Degree in psychiatry or neurology but wouldn't a doctor with his years of experience and multiple degrees should of ask for that since the very first time he saw me? His idea makes sense. So, he sends me to Methodist outpatient clinic where I am told I need a referral from him saying exactly what kind of test he needs from me. I called his office spoke to his assistant about it and I let him know that the new sleeping pills he had prescribed me never made it to the pharmacy thanks to the girl that was "taking notes" that day. Was told he would get right back to me with that information, it's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for his call. So much for getting mental help, the people you think can help you overcome, learn to live and cope, or help control your mental illness, are also affecting you.

He is an excellent Psychologist, listens and comes up with a treatment plan. If you are looking for a doctor to just throw drugs at you this is not the person. He takes his time, really figures out what you need and did I say listens and respects your opinion? ...well that too. He offers the most up to date treatment options and knows everything there is to know about treating all of your concerns.

I think he is very educated and an expert in his field . Highly recommend him.

I had been seeing Dr. Lesum and at first he seemed to listen to me, but still came off arrogant and like he knew more than me. At each one of my appointments I was losing weight which could not be explained. At my very last appointment, Dr. Lesum blatantly accused me of having an eating disorder which I did not have. He told me if I didn’t check into an inpatient rehab for eating disorders he would no longer see me. I was floored and humiliated. The way he treated me was truly unbelievable. I was there because I had lost a child at 20 weeks and was devastated by this. He in no way helped with that, but accused me of something I didn’t have. Come to find out, the reason for the weight loss was because I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I really beg you to consider someone else to help you. To be accused of something that YOU KNOW is not true and to be in tears at a mans office who is supposed to help you is tramatizing. I will be seeing legal action against him and luckily I have been… in the medical malpractice field for years. Please search elsewhere, there are tons of amazing therapist who will do their job, the way it’s supposed to be done.

He does not possess an iota of empathy, and is rude, biased and disrespectful. He always spoke to me in a condescending manner, and there was not a single session that I left feeling good about myself. In fact, I almost always left in tears.

He will make you feel worse when you leave. If he's not talking about himself he's not interested in the conversation.

My 24 year old niece went to see this doctor today. She is currently in an Intensive Outpatient substance abuse treatment program for stimulant and opiate addiction. After seeing her one time he wrote her a prescription for Vyvanse and Ativan both highly addictive drugs. He was told by the family member that accompanied her that she could not have those medications and he wrote the prescriptions anyways. I am completely floored that a medical professional with do something so dangerous and irresponsible. I work in the field of addiction treatment and will be reporting this to the medical board.

I have known this doctor for many years and referred a number of individuals (of all ages). He cares deeply about his patients and personalizes the medical management/ treatment....looking at the whole patient. His years of experience and involvement in clinical drug studies provides a higher level of knowledge than his peers when diagnosing and selecting the best course of medication management.
