Dr. Michael Stephen Lichtman, MD

This Dr. has said some of the most profound things to me. He has changed my life by showing me how to do the work. He is the salient resource that facilitated me to make my own life MINE. He really listens and he diagnosis with eye opening accuracy. plus he's pretty funny. here's a little preview: "Love is not a winning game" ***sigh I know. just let it sink in.

We moved to Savannah almost three years ago and we're desperately needing a psychiatrist for myself and my son. Dr. Lichtman had such empathy and caring about my son and the difficulties he deals with every day. He was available in a suicidal emergency, and was careful in his approach. I'm completely grateful for him turning my son around into the happy kid he was before the Bipolar disorder hit. As for me, after many years of med maintenance appointments, the shorthand was easy with him. He was amenable to making changes if I wanted to try something new. And he kept me wisely grounded by making sure I didn't stop my mood stabilizer. He is a good judge of reason. All that and he is so funny, too! In the 19 years I've been seeing psychiatrists, he is the absolute best one I've ever been privileged to know. I kinda fear our move out of state and what kind of psychiatrist I will find on my insurance. I wish I could bring him with us, but so many people rely on his excellent care.… He also has an incredibly friendly staff who will move mountains for you if necessary.

Dr. Lichtman is truly the perfect psychiatrist. He approaches problems with a humorous and friendly demeanor that makes you feel comfortable discussing personal matters and issues. He genuinely cares about you and your improvement and in my case, right on target with his treatment. (Sometimes shows funny YouTube videos that relate to psychiatry!)

When it comes to mental health, I believe finding the right physician is just as important and finding the right medication or treatment. For me, after several years of trial and error, finding and receiving care from Dr. Lichtman has been a game changer. I appreciate his candid approach to zeroing in on a solution, rather than digging through the destruction of the past. I spent far too much time with physicians theorizing the "why", believing that once that was revealed the solution would present itself. I now consider my case treatment a success and the "why" to be irrelevant. I highly recommend Dr. Lichtman and credit him for the incredible success I've experienced both in work and family life.

Dr.Lictman is fantastic. He is personable, professional, knowledgeable, and pragmatic. He speaks to you in a friendly yet no-nonsense manner. I can not recommend him highly enough.

Dr. Lictman was quick to pick up on my son's diagnosis, even at his young age. My son is now able to deal better with frustration, has a significant reduction in his raging behavior and mania. I believe in him.

He has been very helpful for our family and is truly a wonderful doctor.

He mistreated my illness with the incorrect medications. I was placed on heavy doses of Xanax and antipsychotics, which rendered me useless and overweight for about 10 years. After I began to see other psychiatrists, I realized I needed another class of medication altogether. It has taken about 2 years to withdraw from benzodiazepines and antipsychotics, but as soon as I began the healing process, I returned to school and work.

The guy is one of the best p-Docs in the south east. He is strait forward but he gets the job done.. I personally use him and exclusively refer my clients to him and his associates. That said the office staff are awesome and always patient and discrete.

Dr. Lichtman balances professionalism, clinic-ism and personability, as well as any practitioner in the field of mental health can. He will engage you as directly as you are willing to engage him. His empathy and interest in and for his patients is hard to outmatch. Highest recommendation for one of the best psychiatrists and likely people in the southeast.
