Dr. Michael Lim, MD

I’m 54 and for the past 3 months I’ve been in excruciating, constant pain. Talking was impossible. As a last ditch effort I emailed a few doctors m. Dr. Lim was the only doctor who responded. And that was within 2 hours. We flew to Stanford and he did an MVD. I woke up with 0 pain. He’s very passionate about helping his patients find relief. I really can’t say enough about him!

Dr. Lim gave me my life back. The open surgery he recommended & performed completely eliminated all signs of my Trigeminal Neuralgia. I felt blessed to have Dr. Lim as my physician as he is as humble as he is talented.

Dr Michael Lim is so kind and compassionate, not to mention an amazing neurosurgeon. My son had seen other neurosurgeons in our area and beyond who said his brain tumor was inoperable and at best a biopsy and chemo/radiation was his only option. Dr Lim said he thought he could remove it!!! He gave us hope that no one else had. After many tests, MRIs, evaluations and consultations, Dr Lim felt like he could remove the tumor. He performed an awake craniotomy and remove 90% of the tumor!!! My son is doing well and goes for follow up MRI every three months to observe the remaining piece of tumor. No chemo or radiation needed at this time. We are so grateful for Dr Lim and his amazing expertise in this field. He was an answer to our many, many prayers.

I met with several neurosurgeons who stated that surgery to remove my brain tumor was not an option. By contrast, almost the first words out of Dr. Lim's mouth were, "I want to take it out." After my fMRI performed by a neuroradiologist, he informed Dr. Lim that he didn't see a way to the tumor. So, Dr. Lim studied the images himself and asked the neuroradiologist to examine what he found. The neuroradiologist concluded that Dr. Lim had found a way to the tumor. Since the tumor was located near my speech/language center, to take one more measure of caution, he performed an awake craniotomy. While he was not able to remove all of the tumor due to the fact that part of it was too entangled with my speech/language center, he was able to remove about 90%, which left such a small section that I do not yet even qualify for further treatment.

For over 10 years I suffered with facial pain not knowing exactly what was going on I 1st visit my dentist. He thought it was just a nerve in my mouth. After taking several medications for almost 7 years the pay never went away but the dosage of medicine went up. I heard about Doctor Michael Lim through a family member. After visiting Doctor Lim on the 1st visit he asked a few questions as he addressed my concerns. He determined that is was Trigeminal Neuralgia. I was very skeptical about the procedure and of course as the pain increased. I continued to take the medication with not results. My facial pain never went away but the medication doses kept going up. Finally I made a brave decision to go along with the procedure and I'm so glad I did. I had facial pain misdiagnosed for years. I went to see a dentist thinking it was a cavity. He said he thought it was Trigeminal Neuralgia. I searched the Internet for the top rated doctor familiar with TN and found Dr. Lim at Hopkins. From the moment I met him, he put my concerns to rest. On the day of my micro-vascular decompression surgery and during follow up meetings or conversations via email, Dr. Lim was very attentive and answered all my questions. He is extremely capable and unlike other doctors, he has an amazing bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Lim to anyone who is suffering from TN.

After waited for 1 hour and 50 minutes at the waiting area, finally I met the doctor, the only thing doctor told me was I should see another doctor first then come back if need the surgery, the appointments was arrange by John Hopkins hospital and I don't know which doctor should I see first. For this less than 5 minutes visit he charged me $200. I had asked to pay $200 for this 3 minutes visit and no help at all.

Dr. Lim is great! He's very knowledgeable and puts me at ease. I had a growing epidermoid cyst in the skull. When I found out I had to get surgery, I was extremely anxious. However, after meeting with Dr. Lim, I knew I was in capable hands. The recovery went smoothly and the scar healed beautifully. His team, specifically Sam Hartley, is also wonderful. She's always easy to reach and gets me answers to all my questions the same day! I'm grateful to be at the capable hands of Dr. Lim and his team!

Dr. Lim helped me get my life back. I went to him for an MVD surgery. In every step of the process from initial consultation through post operation recovery he helped me stay positive and comfortable. His whole medical team is amazing and I am thankful to have found them. He presented my options in a clear manner. He is talented and truly cares about his patients getting their lives back. Dr. Lim manages to be caring and communicative with his patients while also working efficiently. He was direct and succinct in describing my surgical options for relief of trigeminal neuralgia while placing the greatest consideration on a good outcome, i.e., maximum reduction of pain. He addressed my concerns and expectations in a realistic and positive manner. Dr. Lim has been consistently available before and after the surgery to check on how I'm doing, describe what the operation entailed and answer any questions. Of the half-dozen surgeons I've worked with in my 64 years, Dr. Lim is definitely in the top two.
