Dr. Michael Burton Lockwood, MD

I have been seeing Dr Lockwood for many yrs. I have fibromyalgia and other problems . Dr Lockwood takes the time to listen to my concerns every time I see him. I had seen so many Drs who were trying to diagnose me, and I felt as if I was being bounced around with no clear andwers. Dr Lockwood was the one to diagnose and treat me. My only concern is that eventually I know he will retire and I don't think I will ever be able to find a Dr as good as he is.

I have been seen by Dr. Lockwood for RA for over a year, hoping my experience there would improve. It hasn't, and I'm finally moving on. He is pleasant enough as a person and I don't doubt that he is an adequate doctor, but there are a few issues that have troubled me. First, he is married to his policy of prescription-renewals being tied to bloodwork. No labs; no prescription. On its face, that seems like a reasonable policy, but he's not flexible enough about the timing of labs/prescription renewal to allow me to have prescriptions delivered before I run out of medication. CVS Caremark has tried to work with him but without success. I've had to give up on mail-order which was really convenient for me. Second, he is somewhat dismissive of my condition. Because I usually am well-managed and just seeking routine care, I generally don't mind his bedside manner, but when things are less controlled, I'm not sure he believes me. And if he does believe me, he certainly approaches it very… clinically. Even if there is no treatment change recommended, some acknowledgement of the pain or an explanation of why it might be happening would go a long way to reassure me that I'm receiving appropriate care. In the end, I need a doctor who treats me, not just my disease.

Never took me seriously. Very rude. When I left for a new Rhuematalologist , Dr Lockwood wrote a bad report about me and the next doctor was as rude as he was. Some doctors like to bad mouth their patients to the next Dr they will be going to. Be careful some doctors love to gossip about their patients instead of trying to figure out what is wrong with them. I think That's why they get paid, isn't it? To serve and take care of their patients? But, there are so many doctors out there. Just because you meet 1-2 bad ones never means their all like that.

I've been struggling for 6 years with severe ankle pain and have yet to be taken seriously. His staff told me that they didn't know what I expected out of them. I just want to be in less pain..

I have been seeing Dr Lockwood since I was 23 years old when I was diagnosed with Lupus. I am now 46 years old. He has always been very caring and a great physician. He has always went above and beyond for us and I could never ask for any better care than he has given to me and my mother who also sees him for Rhuematoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. My family could never thank him enough!

I have been treated for RA by Dr. Lockwood for over twenty years. I highly recommend him. He keeps current on the latest treatments and literature. He cares about his patients and is very competent.

He misdiagnosed my disease.
