Dr. Michael Gregso Lucas, DO

About Me

I am an emergency medicine physician and work in the Emergency Department in Walnut Creek. I grew up locally in San Pablo, and was born at Brookside Hospital in Richmond. I chose medicine because I like people and learning.

I met my wife when I was enrolled in college and we attended University of California Berkeley together. I then went to New York for medical school and to complete a residency in emergency medicine. I fell in love with New York and enjoyed my time there very much. However, I moved back to be with my family and because I think that California is the most beautiful place in the world.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2002. I became a Kaiser Permanente physician because I believe this organization is a unique model that optimizes health care. We have multiple programs to keep people healthy and emphasize smoking cessation and healthy living. I enjoy emergency medicine and have a special interest in ultrasound. I have given lectures in ultrasound to …our department and find many uses for it in the Emergency Department to improve patient care. I am board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. I am also a member of the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Outside of Kaiser Permanente I enjoy time with my family, hiking, mountain biking, and old muscle cars. I had a 65 Ford Mustang in high school and early at Berkeley, but gave it up to pursue my education. I hope that you enjoyed this site. Be healthy and live happy.
