Dr. Michael Ludwig Lukschu, MD

I'm writing this review because when I was looking for others input I could not find any written reviews for this doctor. This was upsetting because as a kaiser subscriber residing in the Palm Springs area we only have 1 option (which really infuriates me because I have no choice but to use this doctor) for a pediatrician. To start ill note the good; Dr. Lukschu is friendly and approachable Wait times are reasonable Office/ waiting area is clean Receptionists are attentive and welcoming Now for the not so good; The one nurse we always get is not really social, she doesn't even seem to try. Maybe she once loved her job and working with kids but now you can tell she is just trying to get through her day. They (doctor and nurse) do not actually wash their hands upon entering and exiting the exam room. They only use hand sanitizer. While this makes me feel a little better it still is something to note because it seems a bit lazy to me. Taking the additional 30 secs to… wash their hands would make a nice impression. Especially since the paperwork they make you fill out while waiting for the doctor asks you if you wash your hands before picking up/ handling your baby. When I ask Dr. Lukschu a question I feel I get a run of the mill super standard answer. While this may be ok for most people, I HATE it. In fact, this is the one thing I dislike the most about Dr. Lukschu. Yes, I understand that sometimes a doctor might get annoyed at answering the same questions all day from new moms but that does not make it ok for him to become (what appears to be) annoyed and react so poorly to the questions. May I suggest that if he doesn't want to answer these questions all the time that maybe he could make a "Common Questions of New Moms" fact sheet which would have a few very standard and often asked questions with their answers. He could then place it in the waiting area of his office or give it out at the first baby wellness exam. In addition, I am a well educated woman and I believe that along with those very basic common questions I also ask specific questions. It is those questions that I would like more input for because "it's normal" or "it's ok don't worry" are not enough of an answer for me. I would have more respect and feel more relieved if he simply would give an explanation in his answers. Something along the lines of; "it's perfectly normal BECAUSE -----. Or "Babies might do this or that BECAUSE -----" would be just fine. Furthermore, it would be great if he would take a little more time with us and not make us feel like we were holding him when we asked these questions. This would at least make the experience feel more personal and like he cared more about us rather than just being thrown around as another patient. Overall, he's not the worst doctor and I don't completely dislike him. I just feel there is some room for improvement in the delivery of his services. If the aforementioned concerns were addressed I would up my rating and recommend him to friends.

My son and I love Dr. Lukschu. My son was a preemie and I'm a paranoid mom. Dr. Lukschu always eases my concerns, even when I bump into him at lunch! HE'S GREAT! WE LOVE HIM!
