Dr. Michael Peter Macris, MD

This guy is the Cadillac of heart docs. He is quiet and reserved, so don't expect gushing. He has a team, and each member has to "make" the team. He is a perfectionist. My incision was so exact it looked like it was done with a T-square! Not a lot of hand-holding, but even tho mine was open-heart AVR, it was very routine to him (not me!) I know he takes longer with those that need it. I didn't have messy arteries, etc. He didn't really have "bedside manner", but I had only a mechanical problem, not lots of clinical mess. I joined FB group for heart valve surgery, and I have had none of the problems talked about (3 mo post-op).

Dr. Macris performed a brand-new minimally invasive aortic heart valve replacement for me this past June. In on Monday, out on Friday, good as new! I have a new life, thanks to him.

We had never met Dr. Macris but our Dr. Sunder recommended. We could not have been more pleased with his professionalism, his demeanor and his caring of my husband. Our follow-up appt is today and I look forward to talking with him again.

My care after bypass surgery was generally poor. This doctor allowed his assistant to monitor my post- surgery condition, and as complications arose, I ended up with a staph infection in the incisions, nearly losing my leg. From the very start, I was admonished by his staff not to contact him if complications arose after my release from the hospital. I ended up in the emergency at another hospital/another doctor contacted him with my diagnosis.I still have severe circulation in the leg where veins were harvested, and no feeling in the toes at all -- over a year later.
