Dr. Michael W Martin, MD

Just plain unprofessional . I know they must drive patients away from doctor Martin's practice.

I have been seeing Dr. Martin for over 20 years and he has been a great doctor and always explained things in a very detailed manner to keep me very informed on my health concerns. I thing he is great, however, he employs the worst office staff I have ever seen. With each new group of people (and there have been several) they seem to always be terrible. I will not go into detail because it would take too long, but the biggest complaint is that it is nearly impossible to get an appointment and there is always some sort of complication. I am seeing another physician and it is very easy to schedule an appointment and the office staff are professional unlike the staff in Dr. Martin's office.

I had an future appointment for my first physical with this doctor. I called the office few weeks before my initial visit because I have had a sinus infection that has not improved for the past week. I called the office and explained my situation and the lady had told me that she could offer me an appointment that afternoon with their APRN. I was okay with that. She asked me who my doctor was and I told her, again, that it WOULD be Dr. Martin. She then told me that I could not see anyone because I haven't seen anyone at their office yet. She then told me to go to a walk in. I am a college student with insurance... I have insurance so that I can be provided with healthcare without having to pay whatever it costs to go to a walk-in. In addition to this the office is nearly impossible to get ahold of and what seems like ALWAYS on service. I do not doubt Dr. Martin is a great doctor, though.

I have gone to Dr. Martin for almost 30 years and, in that time, found him to be knowledgeable and concerned. But his office has changed and has been winnowing out patients. I was abruptly "discharged" by the office staff when I had the wrong date for an appointment. It is his office's practice to call a patient before the appt. and I received no call. I called myself a week later to check on the appt. that I thought was upcoming in two days. They told me that I had missed my appt. and that the doctor had discharged me. I asked what number they had to call me and they had the wrong number. I explained this. They would not let me speak to Dr. Martin even though we have had a great rapport over all these years. I faxed a letter to the doctor explaining the situation and mailed one as well. I am certain that he did not receive it. It is obvious this office is trying to winnow down its patient base and I was a victim. After cultivating this doctor for 30 years it seems that I would have a… chance to talk to him.In my "discharge" paper my first name is all that was on the paper the doctor signed and, it wasn't even the name he knows me by--it was my legal name. I am certain that he did not know what had happened. I am not having trouble finding any good physicians who are taking new patients.This is the worse breakup of my life and I never even got to talk to the doctor about it.What kind of healer can he be?
