Dr. Michael Jon Mattice, MD

I still cringe thinking about my visit with this guy. Probably the most uncomfortable doctor' appointment I have ever had other than my vasectomy or colonoscopy. Do yourself a favor and avoid this guy at all costs.

Highly trained and well respected within the medical community. His knowledge and thorough evaluation of the patients has saved many, many lives.

I am in exact agreement with those who said how rude and condescending he is. This guy after not even examining me tried to make me believe I was a dead man walking (his words). Tried to put me on 3 medications and sell me his book. Oh yes, and some property he owns. Worst experience I ever had. Billed me later for some things I did not even receive. Went once and only once.

The best diagnostic physician in the area. Saved my husband and daughter's lives because of misdiagnoses of other doctors which caused life threatening diseases. Calm, patient, truly cares about you as a person. Takes plenty of time to explain issues to you - not rushing you out the door.

The best primary care physician I have ever had. A terrific diagnostician. My family and I have had some very complicated family medical histories and Dr. Mattice truly cares about his patients. He never leaves you feeling like a "number" in a turnstile full of patients. He will do the research and spend the time with you to get to the bottom of your illness. He saved my leg from an infection that had been masked in a myriad off symptoms from other diseases. He has given that same care in life and death situations with other members of my family. I have the utmost confidence in his care, knowledge and professionalism.

Doctor does too many blood tests. I had 5 in 6 months and never got any real results and cost me over $1,000 which he said is a small price to pay. He is rude and condescending. Bedside Manner--there is none. He believes in lots of pills. Never touched me or examined any part of me. NOT going back!

It has been several years since I saw Dr. Mattice as I moved out of Florida. During the time I saw him he was working at a walk in clinic which is why the wait time was so long and the promptness was only average. I do not know if that is still the case , however Dr. Mattice correctly and quickly diagnosed my pulmonary emboli which took my Father's life many years earlier while he was a patient in the Miami V.A. Hospital. He also diagnosed problems with my gall bladder which was removed. I have seen many different doctors in my 62 years(many unhealthy) and I have never felt the level of confidence with any of them that I feel with Dr. Mattice.

Every time you go he has another new gimmick or test. When I look them up none are proven to do what it's supposed to. Rude,rude,rude. Never listens always preaching at me.

Horrible experience with this physician! I will be filling a complaint so he will hopefully lose his contract with my insurance company. Bedside manner borders on abusive, very condescending...actually made a dx of Hypertension on 1 BP reading and Hyperlipidemia WITHOUT lab work (lab work came back, all fine). Was quick to do multiple tests (EKG, Bio-Z, Chest x-ray), and the grand finale was to send blood for testing to Cleveland Heartlab without my knowledge or approval---the bill for "experimental and investigative" lab work was NOT covered by my insurance and the bill was over $1600... Run, do not walk away from this practice!!

The care was remarkably poor and the doctor was remarkably rude, in my opinion. I ended up seeking a second opinion, which resulted in a more thorough examination and a better prescription for my situation. Also, they made (and admitted) to a billing error, running my insurance card and telling me I was in-network (false), and then refusing to rectify the mistake when the claim came back as out-of-network (true). Weeks of calling their billing office has led in circles, with them admitting this billing issue was the result of their own error, but still telling me I am responsible for paying the full bill regardless. This is as far as I have gotten with them so far, and I feel that the only option I am left with is to try and help others not make what in my opinion was a huge mistake in trusting Dr. Mattice and his staff at Urgent Care West.
